Embattled Gore Urged to Quit

Bush supporters salute their candidate

Democrat pressure for Mr Gore to give way had been growing even before the court ruling, and has now intensified.

"He should act now and concede,"said Democratic National Committee Chairman Ed Rendell.

One of Mr Gore's own team of legal experts, Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe said the decision represented a conclusive defeat for Mr Gore.

But Mr Gore was urged to fight on by the Rev Jesse Jackson. This is a narrow, ideologically-driven decision with extreme politics that, in the end, deprives the court itself of moral authority.

3. what a stupid statement
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 03:27 PM by MollieBradford
Rendell has been a damn good governor of Pa and hardly Useless. You purists are losing for a reason. Nader will never be president, neither will Edwards and Kucinich. Get over it. many good democrats make mistakes, some of them belonged to the DLC.
I was angry at Rendell at the time when he told Gore to concede, I have a huge Gore fan and was part of the draft Gore organizing in both 2004 and 2008. But I went on to campaign for Rendell in 2002.

I am proud of this endorsement and glad Rendell will be there. He is a great advocate for her in Pa and will make sure she wins the state.

the governor illinois just might bite the dust because of the rezko trial...boy will people in this state be happy! fitzgerald put the republican governor in federal prison and just might do it to the democrat this time. the problem is that this will swing the state republican with a new republican senator and governor. oh obama will have to resign because he`s linked into the rezko corruption trial

2. Because that is more of an Obamaniac tactic
to jut one's chest out and crow like a rooster over each and every endorsement, major or minor. Clinton and Edwards can spend time better talking about issues, rather than who just gave them a pat on the back.

15. My mistake. I thought you meant that Obama himself did it.
If you just meant that some of his supporters here at DU crow about endorsements, you are right. All the candidates seem to have supporters here who crow about any good news - endorsements, poll numbers, favorable articles, speeches.

9. Well, the more current examples...
-Would be trying to force slot machine casinos in Philly, against the wishes of the residents.

-Failing to stick up for Philly and push the state legislature to allow Philly to set its own gun laws, when gun violence is destroying the city

I can go back further, if you'd like.

12. And how are either of those "crooked"
You do know that that word implies criminal wrongdoing, right? That a politician does things you oppose does not make it criminal.

13. maybe. But he's the Governor of Obama's state. other than that, endorsements
are usually useless (except kerry's which took the 3 million donor list away from edwards and gave it to Obama)

20. Yep. That's about the size of it.
Wonder if they're all busily working on romney's campaign with his five healthy, vigorous, strapping young military-age sons?

And they'll all be just as busily telling us on the anti-war front how cowardly and unpatriotic we are. :eyes:

31. Rendell, Blah. I prefer the United Farn Workers Union endorsement for Hillary
They have fought long and hard for those who are among the most oppressed in America. I am proud to have personally marched with Caesar Chavez. That is an endorsement worth talking about.
