22. It is sexist.
Wardrobe changes? Now we know
the men candidates with the white
shirts and grey/blue slacks will
be critiqued on wardrobe changes.
Hell, as long as the men didn't
stink, you would not be able to tell
from one day to the next if they
wore the same clothes. Totally different
for a woman in the publics' eye.
BTW - not a Hillary supporter but
hate sexist attitudes towards her
simply because as a woman, my career
has been in a 'man's field' and I have
dealt with this sexist shit all my working
life. A woman has to be twice as good,
work twice as hard, to get half the credit
and recognition as a man.

" . . not looking forward to suffering these wardrobe changes on a full-time basis"

Suffering? :eyes:

Clothes should not be the basis
of whether someone is credible or
worthy.

Furthermore, I could care less what
any of them wear, as long as they wear
something.

51. I never said her clothing was 'the basis of whether someone is credible or worthy'
and, I meant, 'suffering' in the lightest of terms. I pretty much of a slob, myself. I take hits all of the time for my 'hippie' attire. Not much of a fashion maven here.

But, you are correct. Clothing says virtually NOTHING about people, personally.

3. Looks like classic Chanel...
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 04:29 PM by Juniperx
In a very, very bad color choice!

I had a coral colored Chanel suit in the 70's... with chartreuse lining! And it came with a chartreuse turtleneck! Blech! But it was all the rage... go figure.

I run from designer clothes now... too embarrassingly hideous for my taste... runway material only!

As designer suits go, this one worn by Hillary is actually not too bad... I've seen so much worse lately. Have you been to a professionally dressed office lately? This isn't bad at all.

Are women exempt?

And, I really don't see anything so outrageous in my criticism. I haven't cast aspersions on anything but her clothing here. That's done by women ALL of the time. In fact, it was my wife who came up with the 'queen bee' handle.

46. EVERY criticism of women isn't sexist. You really make the term look petty
when you apply it to criticisms like this. I don't believe for a moment that the same charges would be leveled, by the same people, if the criticism was of a male candidate in a Bright Yellow outfit.

48. It would be out of line if I associated my dislike of her clothing choice
with anything substantive about Hillary Clinton. I haven't. I restricted my criticism to her clothing.

Criticizing clothing is certainly 'legitimate'. Associating that criticism with other issues may well not be.
