1. They're not pro-choice. So his votes didn't make them happy.

6. 50% is a neutral rating
So why would they do that?

35. Human Cloning Bill was on their legislative priority list for 2002.
Voting to ban human cloning got everyone points with Right to Life. It wasn't considered a women's health issue, and PP didn't have it on their legislative list.

I would imagine that very few Democrats have a high rating from them

3. In context ...
Obama usually voted with Planned Parenthood 100% or against the RTL movement 100% -- it's on the web page.

There are many Obama issues that he can be taken to task over. This is not one of them.

like all other Right to Life ratings given to all the other Democratic Candidates.

If you check out both Clinton and Edwards, its always 0%.
So I was wondering why in 2002, Obama got a 50% rating.

compared with the others listed.
Thirty get 0%
Ten get 100%
The rest:
Less that 50%: 8
More than 50%: 4

18. I've seen it before. SB0493. Human Cloning Act.
He voted Yes on a bill that prohibited human cloning.

Everyone in the Assembly got a right to life rating that year. This was not listed on Planned Parenthood's legislation board, and therefore did not count against anyone for the PP ratings.

33. He didn't change position, he the Nay button on his desk by mistake.
Here's the transcript from that day. The vote takes place on page 44. http://www.ilga.gov/senate/transcripts/strans91/ST022400.pdf

Presiding Officer: (Senator Dudycz)
Is there any discussion? If not, all those in favor will vote Aye. Opposed will vote Nay. And the voting is open.
Have all voted who wish? Take the record. ON that question, there are 57 ayes, 1 Nay, and none voting present. And Senate Bill 649, having received the required constitutional majority, is declared passed. Top of Page 4, in the Order of Senate Bills 3rd -- Senator Obama, what Purpose do you rise?

Senator Obama:
Just wanted to let Senator Burzynski know that I pressed the wrong button by accident. I'd like to be recorded as a Yes vote.

Presiding Officer: (Senator Dudycz)
Record will reflect your intent, Senator Obama.
