“It's a large state. It has virtually every, you know, diverse group that you can think of in different parts of the state, different economies in different parts of the state, different industries,”

10. I agree. I think California is a better example of microcosm of the country

In terms of both what our country is, and wants to be.

Florida is ass back wards on so many things, including its juvenile justice system, and its electoral system etc.

2. Oh, man, if that were true, we'd all be in a lot of trouble.

First of all, their public education system is near the bottom of the barrel in terms of individual states.

14. a new study had Florida at number 12 . . . tried to find it but was
not successful. This was reported about 2 weeks ago.

Most of the jump from a year ago had to do with Teacher Effectiveness.

4. You're quoting Giuliani to prop up Clinton? Sheesh.
Look, as a Floridian, I'd say that this state is anything but a microcosm of the country. This state is deeply, profoundly weird in a way the rest of the country cannot understand.

That's why I love it! :)

11. I look at his posts for amusement. It keeps me busy, though, as he generates so many threads.
He should have his own entire forum as he fills this one up with his instant threads.

5. Shit, no wonder America's so fucked up.
I thought the country was looking a bit too much like a whacked out Carl Hiassen novel.

8. That's a croc. I'm from Florida.
It's turned into a backwater Republican stronghold. It's nothing but crazy-ass retirees protecting their SS checks and good old boys blaring country music from their pick-up trucks. It USED TO BE a microcosm. Now it's just another southern state. That "microcosm" line is a bunch of shit drummed up by -- OH LOOK! ABC/DISNEY! Giant corporate Disney will benefit greatly from a Clinton dynasty.

12. Actually, that line in particular is a bunch of shit drummed up by Rudy Giuliani, because
he desperately needs to win there.

9. It would be a little different, I feel, if they were campaigning here...
All we get is snippets on local news, a few debates, if anyone watches, and going to their sites....

Also, there is a huge spanish population.. they would be in favor of Clinton over Obama.. sorry, race does play a factor here.
