Connecticut attorney general endorses Hillary Clinton
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 05:52 PM by Nutmegger
HARTFORD, Conn. - New York Sen. Hillary Clinton on Thursday picked up the endorsement of Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the second statewide official to publicly back a candidate in the Feb. 5 presidential primary.

Blumenthal said Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, called seeking his support, though he had been strongly leaning toward endorsing Hillary Clinton anyway. Blumenthal has known the Clintons since they attended Yale Law School more than 30 years ago.

"I admire and respect her as the most experienced and able candidate who will be ready to lead from day one, particularly on economic issues that are so profoundly significant today," Blumenthal said.

Blumenthal previously backed Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd, who dropped his presidential campaign after a poor showing in the Iowa caucus.

This is a fantastic endorsement for the Clinton campaign. Our attorney general is very popular here. (I wish he'd run for governor!)

Congratulations to the Clinton campaign.
