The media tells you the Clinton's are meanies!!!
I just read the umpteenth post about not voting for Clinton because she is mean, and people don't like her "tactics." So, by all means, nominate a guy who doesn't have a single tough campaign under his belt. Nominate the guy who panders to the right and says he will "work with them." Don't, by any means, nominate someone that will kick rethug butt. Goodness no, "be the change we want to see." Kumbaya and all that stuff

You know what, do you think Bill Clinton was "being the change he wanted to see" when he kicked Newt Gingrich's ass all over capitol hill rather than accept budgets with huge cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and SSI? Do you think you get to BE president by being a wussy nice guy? You folks constantly complain about our spineless dems in congress, then you insist we nominate one for POTUS??? Just today our spineless dems accepted a stimulus package that leaves out food stamp recipients and the unemployed. Way to hold the line, guys. Again, they forget they are in the majority. Bill Clinton kicked rethug ass even when Dems weren't in the majority. And he didn't do it by singing Kumbaya with them.

You don't get to "be the change you want to see" by being a wuss during a campaign. That is NOT how politics works in this country. If the Clinton's are rolling out "Rovian tactics" good for them, and us. To the victor go the spoils.

I vote on issues, then if those things are closely equal, you can damn sure bet I am going to vote for the toughest candidate out there. I am sick to death of spineless dems. They are utterly useless to us if they don't come with a spine attached, and NO, I do NOT want them to "work with" repubicans. I want them to kick rethugs in the ass and take no prisoners.

But by all means, let's keep voting for wussies because it makes our heart feel good. That is much more important than actually getting things accomplished.

1. You can fight hard without fighting mean
Not gloating is a big part of that. Also, letting the tit-for-tat just GO when it's time. I'm afraid our candidates might have caught something from us, that irrational clinging to an argument long after it's played out. That's what Clinton and Obama did in the last debate, and that's why they both lost to John Edwards, who has done an excellent job of claiming the high ground so far.

2. Lost according to who?
The media and 12 people in a focus group? Both Edwards and Clinton can stand up in the GE, but there is no way that whiny ass Obama, with not a single tough election under his belt, is ready for prime time.

But the main point is, stop insisting our candidates act like wussies, then complain that our politicians are spineless. They are spineless, because you are all so busy insisting they play nice. Nice doesn't win elections in this country. If we consistenly put up the biggest wussy we can find in every presidential election we are never going to win.

what about some of the shit some DUers say about people when they die?
Some DUers are some of the meanest people...the candidates only mirror us because they are people too.

3. Uh huh
Theres a difference between playing fair and running a dirty campaign.

The Hillary campaign has crossed that line too often.

6. In other words, keep on being told what to believe by the MSM.
You know, the Clintons have nothing much to lose in this race. Remember, when Bill Clinton first took office Hillary and he were "hated" almost as much as today. Many of the same people were there in his first term to create the "monster Hillary." It's difficult for most males to like a tough, competent, and smart woman. Add the fact that they liked to hang around with black folks, came from poor backgrounds and dysfunctional families, worked in public and social services, and refused to back down when confronted by their detractors and you have the perfect mix to hate until your hate drives you nuts. They came through some very tough personal times together and remained together. I called the impeachment episode "weenie envy." So far, they still have each other and the respect of a lot of people around the world. Their main detractors are right here in the good ole USA. We can make heroes out of bumbling, lying actors, AWOL drug addicts, convicted criminals...but it just ain't right that a poor southern white boy who happens to befriend blacks, makes good in school, and can speak in coherent sentences without reading a script should make it to President (twice), be liked and respected by the world, and leave office with high popularity. Go figure!

7. You definitely belong in the Clinton camp...

Some of us are tired of our political leaders, gallivanting around the
country and acting like snobby high-school figures from a bad 1980's John Hughes movie.

It's not sophisticated, clever or intelligent to prop yourself up by lying about
someone else and manipulating reality.

I know that's become politics du jour in our country, but it is a really
demeaning and a low-common-denominator way to behave.

I would think, that after watching John Kerry suffer so profusely and lose
so unfairly--that Democrats--of all people--would know that successfully
destroying your opponent--doesn't necessarily mean you're the best
candidate for office. Guess not.

I'm sick of the bullshit and of the infantile smears and manipulations winning
the day.

That's why I like Obama. I saw his campaign, up close and personal in Iowa.
We didn't have the Clinton attack machine in hyper-drive yet, because Obama
had not won yet. The contest was about ideas, policies and the philosophical
differences between the candidates---not race, backbiting, lies and candidates
endlessly defending themselves against shark attacks.

For a while, I had hope that our nation could be better. I guess that was
just a temporary utopia.

Now, everything is a big pile of shit.

all year! No kumbaya moments for me, that's a bunch of empty rhetoric.

What the rethugs have done to this country and all of us, I never would have believed!

I want them all out of office and after we take over the congress we can start to weed out the spineless dems too!

I'm from the 60's and I see another revolution coming.......stay tuned......

I hope you keep posting here, things will get a lot better here after the primaries......people are too keyed-up right now and there's more bickering than productive discussions IMO.

Your analysis is intelligent and insightful.....thanks

19. Bill Clinton frequently pandered to and gave in to the repukes
Welfare reform
NAFTA
DOMA

Hardly kicked repuke ass. And he managed to get himself impeached by stupidly lying.

Furthermore, I don't even have a TV. I've never been a big Bill fan, and my opinions don't come from the MSM- even remotely.

Try again, dear.
