I saw Obama in North Charleston, SC tonight
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 11:50 PM by Bleachers7
I saw Obama tonight at North Charleston HS. The event was held in a gym. The Obama people said it held 2000. It was packed to the rafters. It was a fun event. I met some nice people. Obama gave his basic stump speech, and emphasized a few points. He had a few lines I've never heard before (and don't remember right now).

I talked to a couple of the Obama volunteers to find out what the sense on the ground was. They are nervously optimistic. They feel like if everyone that says they're going to vote for Obama, actually vote for him, he should win easily.

They sensed that Edwards is moving up. Part of it is Hillary not campaigning. One woman told me that people calling into talk radio are critical of Obama and Clinton for the cat-fight at the debate. People that are pissed seem to be moving to Edwards.

Hillary not campaigning in SC is apparently a big issue. People were supposedly considering either Hillary or Obama and "they're all falling into the Obama camp." People are pissed that she's not campaigning and they might take it out on her.

Electability seems to be or have become a big issue. Both people that preceded Barack talked about it, and Obama talked about it. I'm not sure if this is a new issue or not. Either way, Obama's campaign emphasized electability tonight.

That's basically it. I can't post pictures tonight. I'll be around for a little while to answer questions.

BTW, people at tonight's event couldn't give a shit about most of the stuff we're fighting about here.

EDIT: The anti-Hillary calls from the texas republican guy seem to be widespread. The Obama volunteer said she got one and it was nasty. She knew the name of the guy making them (which suprised me). She didn't know who he was.

10. Kewl! Thanks for the report.....
Just remember, only Obama can stick it to the GOP nominee about how they supported and voted for this war that broke our enconomy. That's electability!

11. He brought the war up a couple times and people appreciate it.
I think it's one of his strongest selling points.

13. It was nice to see him again.

I saw him early last year. He's much more polished since then. I'm so used to seeing him online and on TV that I expect some of his lines. Either way, I feel like I'm doing the right thing about supporting him. I am not second guessing myself at all, and that's a great thing.

BTW, I got to shake his hand twice. That was pretty cool.

14. I think that's cool..the only politician
whose hand I've ever had the opportunity to shake is hilary's so I'm kinda in a deficit here.

Twice..Real Good. Obama needs to get the nom and then maybe I'll get to see him in person in New York. ;)

15. Out here in Santa Cruz/Capitola Ca[one is very democratic the
second more republican(AGonzoles's brother is suppose to hang out around that area)] I am seeing lots of Obama bumper stickers. These folks are all white. Not one is AA. So if AA friends around Charleston are asking, there are many white male and female voters waiting to vote for him here Feb 5. Myself included. and the numbers of those Obama b. stickers increases daily. I .don't see any for Clinton or Edwards
