An inconvenient truth: Bill Clinton is running for a third term.

Time to face an inconvenient truth: Bill Clinton is running for a third term.

Back in the days when high schools offered courses in civics, one of the things that was drilled into us was the difference between “de facto” and “de jure” segregation.

De jure was that which was mandated by law.

And de facto was that which existed in reality.

In watching Bill Clinton’s latest mini-meltdown on CNN—set off by a reporter asking him to comment on a complaint by the former head of the South Carolina Democratic party that the 42nd president was engaging in the “politics of deception” used by the late (and much reviled) Republican strategist Lee Atwater—Clinton’s response offered an unusual lens into the powder-keg that is our former commander-in-chief: Starting with an almost jocular dismissal of the accusation, he then proceeded to wind himself up into a finger-pointing fury, attacking Barack Obama, painting himself as the victim, and generally blaming the press for everything, before walking away with the taunt, “Shame on you.”

It was not, well, presidential.

4. Clinton supporters
foam at the mouth about any criticism of Hill and Bill. And they predicatably accuse any such criticism as being right wing. Pathetic.

6. This thread is somewhat bizarre
It seems pretty clear that Clinton views himself as part of the campaign and would be involved in any Clinton presidency. I honestly don't understand what kind of person cannot see this.

The strange trollish posts on this thread do disrupt any rational commentary, but that is the internet for you.

10. He will be involved like any knowledgeable spouse.
If you've got something on your mind don't you talk to your spouse first? Especially if it is something that you know they are up to speed on? That doesn't mean you have to agree.

12. They are counting on people buying that
"If you've got something on your mind don't you talk to your spouse first? "

However, nothing I have ever seen or read about the clintons supports the 'talking to his/her spouse' model they want to sell.

They are running for a 3rd term. There was a hillary interview/speech late last year where she said 'When I am President again.' That says more of her mindset than anything.

7. and not acting "presidential" is the best way to run for a third term
To me, it looks like he is campaigning as hard for her as 1) she campaigned for him and 2) all the other candidates' spouses are campaigning for them.

17. Well, you should realize that "Clintons Economy" didn't help the working class one iota.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 01:40 PM by TheGoldenRule
Clinton pretty much killed off the working class with NAFTA.

Clinton is little different that the rest of the thugs. The only difference is he has charm and and a nice smile...while he stabs the little guys of this country in the back. :puke:

19. I thought that third term run started as far back as the longest walk down the hallway during the
2000 convention, just so the cameras could gaze at his face, wasting all that precious prime time air time that could've been spent promoting Al Gore for President from the lectern, this after telling Ken Burns, he had a delicate role to play in the upcoming election because he was just coming off of scandal and impeachment.

Thanks for the thread, RoveRage.
