I'm genuinely impressed. She's commenting now on MSNBC.

Which caused quite a stir over here a while back. Some critique of Samantha Power in there, too, as I recall:

Susan Rice was one of the best Kerry people in 2004. (He also has Marvin.)

12. How about Secretary of State?
I kinda like that better. And she would be able to bring an anti-Washington viewpoint to the position.

13. Works for me
Although I tend to see Biden or Richardson at State. Powers could follow the Albright career path of academia-UN-State.

14. Do you mean the woman who said

"We're going to hear something very unusual on the left, which is a genuine pride in what America can be again." How good for the Democratic Party to have that kind of talk, which is par for the course from the Obama campaign.

"The United States has not talked directly to Iran at a high level, and they have continued to build their nuclear weapons program, wreak havoc in Iraq, and support terror." Even though Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program, and this statement plays into dangerous Bush hype about Iran's supposed involvement in Iraq violence.

Not to take anything away from her accomplishments and charisma, but this hero/heroine worship gets a little out-of-hand, no?

15. Have you read her book?
Samantha Power really is quite brilliant. I don't know the context of that remark, but I do know that she's no rush to war type, and please remember that Obama was the first candidate to say he'd hold high level talks with Iran.

He has a good foreign policy team. I'd think that would be reassuring.

16. Does the Obama Fan Base have a deal going with Amazon? :v)
That's about the fifth time today an Obama supporter asked if I'd read somebody's book.

I'm citing two concrete examples that show that we should chill a little on the hero/heroine worship.

That's not meant to repudiate her work, smarts, and charm.

17. I'm hardly a member of a fan club, or an uncritical supporter of my
candidate- by any means. I'm suggesting that taking quotes out of context without an understanding of someone's philosophy is rather meaningless. We can all cherry pick quotes. And thinking someone is capable and has the right ideas about foreign policy is a far cry from hero worship.
