Obama running mates: RFK jr, Edwards, Clinton, I like Bobby Kennedy Jr. Who do you like?
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 07:36 PM by caligirl
No one should assume I meant anything other than to have a descent discussion of possible running mates IF Obama can win the nom. And further Obama won THIS primary with 49% of the 18-29year old white vote. His win is a broad win that should serve notice to us that he has shown he has broad appeal across a spectrum of voters of different ages and non AA. He did not win solely on the AA vote.

It appears to ask a question to have an intelligent discussion can't be done here at DU anymore. What a pitty, in 2004 we did this all the time no matter whose candidate you support. I am still for Edwards. Obama is my second choice. As a Californian, female white and over 40 I probably don't fit the pattern of the pollsters.

Clinton was the inevitable one.

17. don't know, but if Clinton doesn't win he would support the nominee.
The kind of numbers Obama is getting in South Carolina indicate a serious problem for Clinton. Either could still win but I think the votes will be extremely close super Tuesday.

And congratulations. A lot of people put in a lot of effort on-the-ground and it was definitely a win Barack needed. :hi:

23. so this diminishes Obama's win because it was "ONLY" black folks?
You white liberals are really showing your true colors in this primary season. My republican co-workers warned me about this. I was told to prepare to see just how "liberal" and "color blind" white liberals really are. Very disappointing that people in this party would engage in such classless behavior.

32. classless?
if you can disprove the data that proves that, then we'll talk. It's pretty sad when one can reference data supporting a point -- and not a bad point, by the way -- and yet still be called, subtly, a racist.

into this. Can't anyone here surmise who some of the great options are without any assumption that this is a post about a winner at this juncture?

19. RFK Junior kicked a NASTY heroin habit. You don't think the GOP would have fun with that?
Forget about him. NO national experience. No governorship, no legislative experience. Oh, and a recovering drug addict. Did I mention those drugs?

Edwards. NO. Won't play second fiddle again. Two inexperienced Senators is how the GOP would play that ticket.

Clinton. NO. Currently has more power on the SASC than she would as VP. Plus, there's no love between the two camps.

Obama would need an experienced executive. Richardson would be good--but ONLY if he would use him. If he stuck him in cold storage, it would be a waste of talent. Bill Richardson would want assurances that he'd be part of something approaching a co-Presidency. Obama might not want to play that game.

I am still with Edwards but I read something Bobby had said on his show recently and without realizing his 'baggage' I thought about his passionate commitment to democratic ideals. I thought about the inspiration of RFK and JFK and wondered about the publics reaction to an Obama Kennedy ticket. I have no idea who the possible options are and we have a long way to go still. But looking at the type of win Obama got here he has accomplished a great deal in this win. People need to sit back and really look at who voted for him, Hillary, who would do a great job as President, got the wind knocked out of her tonight. (Or maybe Bill did.)

34. RFK Junior wants to be the Junior Senator from NY. He has his eye on THAT prize.
That 'Horse' habit won't hurt him at that level--he's been clean for awhile, long enough for people to figure he isn't going to relapse. It's just that Obama has that "experiemented with pot and coke" baggage, and the GOP would have a vicious field day--IF RFK JR would jump ship, and he won't.

If HRC wins the WH, he will probably get his wish. She will help him in the GOP areas where she has "won over" a lot of the poorer Republicans/Reagan Dems who looked askance at her initially, but started liking her once she started delivering for them.

She'll basically tell them "Vote for my lad, here, and things won't get worse, they'll get better." And she'll be in a position to deliver. If, of course, she wins the WH.

He's helped by the fact that his father, who was a CARPETBAGGER (Junior isn't--he's living in NY) also held that seat. For older voters, it'll be a bit of delightful deja vu. For the younger voters, his environmental message would resonate.

And that's only going to happen if the incumbent holding the seat moves on up to the WH. Unless Obama wins, and picks Chuck Schumer as his VP (pigs will fly and shrimp will whistle first).

this afternoon and wanted to somehow melt into the dashboard vents and hug him.

That man is true blue from the word go.

As long as he is serving as a public servant, in any capacity he chooses, I'm right behind him. He is an earnest intelligence and a very persuasive mobilizer.

33. 2nd BIG win for Obama. Kucinich for veep.
DK has executive experience! That makes him qualified.

And if we hold off counting NH until the recount (that DK paid for!) then Obama has won more delegates in 3 states. There is something disconcerting about a cndidate that has been rejected by over 2/3 of the voters in 1/2 the states to have voted.
