Ambinder: Gov. Kathleen Sebelius Plans To Endorse Obama
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) will deliver the Democratic response to the State of the Union on Monday.

And then Tuesday or Wednesday, she plans to endorse Barack Obama, numerous Democratic sources said.

The sources said that Sebelius decided some time ago that Obama was her candidate but decided to wait until after the State of the Union.

An Obama spokesperson declined to comment.

"Right now, the Governor's focus is on delivering her response to the President's State of the Union message Monday night," said Nicole Corcoran, communications director to Sebelius. "The Governor will have more to say about the presidential campaign after Monday."

1. It's A Crying Shame, I Tell You
Sebelius should be running for President.

Here we have a strong woman who has won in a predominantly red state without being a complete DINO. She's handsome and competent looking. Time Magazine named her one of the nation's top governors. Oh yes, she's a governor. No voting record to pick apart and strong leadership/executive skills.

Can anyone give me a reason why she isn't running?

4. I wish there was a great female candidate like Sebelius in the race
alas, there is not. She is mentioned as a possible VP for good reason though.

12. Sebelius Can't Be Our VP Cnndidate
If Obama is our nominee, he needs to pick a VP with strong foreign policy experience to allay concerns about his being a lightweight in that area (not entirely fair to classify him that way, but it is the perception and perceptions count).

If Hillary Clinton is our presidential candidate, well, she'll have to pick a male running mate with strong defense credentials. She can't pick another woman because there are still dumbass concerns about whether ANY woman is fit to lead.

The only way it might work is if John Edwards gets the nomination. He can pick a strong female running mate because he is not threatened by strong women. Whether he is really any better than Obama at foreign affairs is pointless to debate because people have different perceptions about him. If he somehow gets the nomination (which seems more and more unlikely) he would do well to pick a woman or African American as his running mate - it would bring back the core constituencies and keep the level of excitement high.

13. Agreed--she'd be a good fit for Edwards, but not for Obama. He needs
someone to shore up his foreign policy/national security creds. Pretty much, he needs an older white guy. Especially if we're up against McCain/Holy Joe.

10. That's my good governor!
Not that it matters. but I think Obama has a good chance at an upset here in Kansas. Sure, it's only 1/10th of the California delegates, but we do try ;)

From the democrats I know here, it's a race between Obama and Edwards, but who knows.
