Senator Obama preaches "unity", but I believe he means unity on HIS terms only
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 12:25 AM by LibraLiz1973
This is NOT the first time he has treated Senator Clinton poorly.
That little, "You're likable enough, Hillary" comment during one of the debates was really rude.
He treats her with obvious disdain that is uncomfortable to witness, IMHO.

Senator Obama SAYS that he will unify. Yet he and his mouthpieces have done nothing but attack Hillary left and right.
They say her campaign played "the race card" when it was CLEARLY his campaign. In an attempt to show "unity" with John Edwards,
he has "borrowed" Senator Edwards stances, jokes and sayings.

I realize that he probably does not like her. But if he was able to muster enough respect to shake *'s hand, he should have known
that greeting Senator Clinton and shaking her hand was the respectful thing to do.

It shows poorly for him. It was a VERY "Bush" thing to do. Snub your opponents, be rude, lie & never take responsibility.

Senator Obama has shown time and again that UNITY is not what he really wants. If he wanted to unify the Democratic party, would he be
allowing bigots to campaign for him? I think not.

He is more interested in embracing the Republicans than the members of his own party.

He's campaigning on a CHANGE platform... yet he is showing some real similarities to Bush. Right down to the shady business dealings with his friend Rezko.

11. Yes, the "you're likable enough" comment -- in all its smugness --
foreshadowed this event.

So high school.

I believe Obama has a lot to offer, but he needs to grow up. NOW!

14. Exactly, that is what is going on. Instead of being called
unpatriotic we are called racists by our own GWB.

16. YES!!!!
It is so fucking annoying.

The parallel between Bush and his moutpieces attacking EVERYONE who disagreed with anything
he did after 9/11 as being unpatriotic, and Obama and his crew calling people racist is REALLY disturbing.

20. The best part of all this is
it is all self-inflicted damage. Whether it is channeling Reagan, acting like a petulant brat in a debate, rude before a National audience, dealing with a political fixer,or bashing the left wing of his own Party, Obama has done all of this to himself.

To affix blame, he has to look no further than his own mirror!

23. Smug, pompous ass. Sorry...
If he is going to be this immature over a handshake how is he going to act with world leaders when they have disagreements? Is he going to sit in a corner and pout until he gets his way? He had a great opportunity last night to show class and UNITY. You know...that thing he talks about so much. Some example.

24. You had me in the first paragraph, then lost me in the second,
when you claimed that Obama's campaign played the race card. The only people who believe that live at DU. I haven't seen any Democrat, newspaper editorial board, campaign strategist or analyst, from Kennedy to Sharpton, who doesn't believe that Bill was seeking to reinforce the public's perception of Obama as the BLACK candidate.

I agree with you that Clinton apparently don't like each other very much.

Perhaps the silver lining, if you're right about him wanting "unity" but on his own terms, is that he will likewise seek "unity" with Republicans and independents after he is elected, but on his own Democratic terms.
