Hillary's snub to NH
After the months-long "First State in the Nation" fight over the Primaries, in which Hillary supported New Hampshire, she's snubbing NH by going back on her promise to follow the DNC's rules about Florida and Michigan. She managed to get her name only on their ballots and now she wants the delegates to go along with her non-election. This is a huge snub to the people of NH, WHO GAVE HER A COME-FROM-BEHIND VICTORY. Thanks alot, HRC.

Somehow, the "Obama snub" from last night just doesn't seem at all significant.

1. That's actually incorrect. All the major candidates are on the Florida ballot. n/t

2. All the names are on the Florida ballot. Be honest.

4. She's the one who has requested that the delegates be counted.
OK--I stand corrected on the # of candidates on the ballot--but come on. That's like saying "Be honest--Hillary weighs 120 lbs, not 121". You're ignoring the important part of my statement and I know it's not "accidental".

6. If everyone has an equal chance to get votes (Actually Obama has an advantage
since he ran ads in FL) Why not seat the delegates?

13. You're avoiding discussing the real issue. All of you.nt
I guess I should've known better, trying to point something out in Hillary loving GDP.

14. No, you're missing it. Our party cannot afford to disenfranchise and alienate
Florida voters.

18. WTH are you talking about?
"WE" can't afford to "alienate"? The DNC made the rules! As far as I know, the DNC represents the Democratic Party!

23. The party cannot afford to alienate the VOTERS. If their votes do not count
in the primary they will be less likely to support the nominee in November.

3. How is she going back on the rules or breaking the pledge?
She is going to FL after the polls close, and is lobbying the DNC to seat the delegates from FL.

My God, that evil woman wants to enfranchise voters, and it just kills those in the obamasphere.

Now we have the fake outrage (something Obama and many of his supporters excel at) and the use of the word snub - trying like hell to make people shut up about what an arrogant jerk the new messiah was revealed to be last night.

It is transparent.

8. Did you notice that I said "non-election"?
She hasn't won in Florida. And the "arrogant jerk" didn't, by contrast, go back on his word to NH. She's petitioning the DNC to CHANGE the rules now that it's looking good for her in Florida and because she was the only Dem on the ballot in Michigan. If you can't see dirty politics at work here, you're absolutely blind.

12. So far, that's the only thing here I gotta agree with...
I will say that Hillary's trying to change the delegate rules in Florida is certainly opportunistic. She wouldn't be doing it if the polls didn't have her leading in Florida by double digits. And if by some miracle Obama wins Florida, I doubt she'll keep lobbying the DNC.

But, I don't even think that's a big deal. This is politics. I don't fault Hillary for trying to win. Winning is the point of the whole thing.

15. All of a sudden, dirty tricks are "just politics"?
Is this DU? Is this the site where we've railed against Bush and his cronies playing dirty tricks for seven years now? I'd like to know why it's acceptable for Hillary to be sleazy and nobody else?

17. I think what we're differing on is whether this constitutes dirty tricks.
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 10:57 AM by SteppingRazor
You think it is dirty, while I think it's a candidate doing whatever she legally and ethically can to secure the most delegates, and thus get the nomination. I don't see anything wrong with it.

9. While I think this whole "snubgate/ handshakegate/ whatevergate" is laughably absurd...
I also think Hillary's appearance tonight in Florida is no big deal. The primary's over.

And I say this as a Floridian who voted for Obama.

10. Only Hillary's supporters acts are bad
Hillary's supporters are driven by petty malice; Obama's supporters are merely passionate.

Keep that in mind and you'll be okay.

7. Funny, but I don't feel snubbed
I see you're from Manchester, but don't presume to think you speak for the rest of us in the state.

Aside from that, your rant is factually incorrect. Clinton did not campaign in Michigan (but that hero of progressivism Dennis Kucinich did) All of the candidate's names are on the Florida ballot, and Clinton is going down there after the primaries are over. Nothing wrong with that at all.

19. So does Obama. So does Edwards
I don't like it, but any of the top three will seat those delegates once the time comes. Don't kid yourself.
