John Kerry: “Bottom line: Florida has no delegates.”
–Obama camp counters in conference call of its own. Opens with supporter John Kerry telling the media not to take the Clinton camp’s bait and cover Florida for the Dems, saying “Bottom line: Florida has no delegates.”

1. We'll see about that. This may end up being a flip flop for Kerry.

How it is determined etc, I do not know - but they will be seated. Bookmark it.

34. they will not be a determining factor in the nomination if it is close
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 02:26 PM by JackORoses
If there is already a Nominee by the Convention, they will seat the delegates.

But neither MI nor FL will play a role in deciding the Nominee.

36. I don't agree. If it is close, the party will look to FL & MI to help determine the nominee.

43. The results of MI and FL are damaged beyond repair.
Everybody knew before hand that these elections had no delegates.
There was no campaigning by the candidates.
In MI, most of the candidates were not even on the ballot.
This affected voter turnout and the final results in indisputable ways.

Our nominee will not be chosen based on these invalid Primaries.

contest the vote count. He really took the wind of of my sails. I can hardly stand thinking about it/him.

8. No kidding...
Is that what Hillary is doing?

Ok, I was a little wrangled, thinking that she might try to force those delegates
to be seated, when there wasn't a legitimate campaign or election in Florida.

So, what's she's doing after all, is orchestrating a PR stunt--in which she will stand
tall as the "winner of Florida"....claiming a victory???

Is this really what this is all about??????

OMFG....talk about desperation. I mean, this is probably the most
pitiful thing I've seen any candidate do, in the last ten years.

"Look at me everyboddeee! Florida loves me!!"

12. Did Kerry just open mouth and insert foot? Again?
I don't want the delegates to be seated either, but the political reality is that all of the top 3 candidates will do just that come election time. But this is a rather caustic brush-off that is going to be interpreted as "Florida voters don't matter". It isn't what he meant of course, but this is Kerry's Achilles' Heel; saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.

The Credentials committee at the convention (and the delegates who get to vote on their recommendation) will decide.

Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 02:13 PM by MetricSystem
this time all three major candidates are actually on the ballot so I think there is a significance to the vote. Kerry is playing politics here because the Obama camp expects a big loss tonight. It's easy to forget, but Kerry is now in partisan mode and most of what he says will be towing the official Obama camp message.
