3-person game. No limit Texas hold'em. Edwards, Obama, Clinton.

Let's not turn it ugly. Just a fun discussion.

12. you don't play poker
poker is not about"instinct" Its skill, math, anaylization. Ask any proffesional player. The cutsy answer will be "luck" but the honest answer is "know when to fold"

Yes, there's math and skill and "anaylization" (sic).

But the best professional players could beat you without ever looking at their cards, just playing YOU.

20. There's no such word
as analyzation. Do you mean "analysis"?

And reading people and knowing what they're thinking and what they're capable of is a part of instinct.

To tell Nikki she doesn't play poker is just rude and wrong.

You could sit down with any of the top pros and they could never look at their cards, and they'd own your house, your car, and be fucking your wife before your first drink got delivered.

27. Edwards would be a natural BUT Obama seldom shows emotion
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 09:12 PM by Samantha
It will boil down to who went to the best law school and honed to a fine art their street-fighting techniques. That means Edwards, I guess.

But during the play, Obama and Hillary will continually call each other's bluff; however, only Hillary is sitting there holding a strategic card (Bubba face card) under the table. Edwards, however, squints and perceives that card, and with his knees shifts the table while looking at Barack Obama with the obvious question on his face, why did YOU do that?

Moving not a muscle and showing absolutely no surprise, Barack Obama senses this is no time to fold.
You gotta know when to show them, Hillary, Barack says, and I am not waiting until the convention.

Edwards demonstrates the most raw skill, Barack shows the best poker face, Hillary claims to have the most chips and will be the inevitable winner. A recount will be demanded.

51. I saw the canvas version in an art store
I'm still trying to figure out why Carter is seated, but LBJ is talking to Woodrow Wilson. Seems to me LBJ would have been seated with a cigar, a glass of bourbon, and a big stack of chips.

Now if I can convince my wife the print is "a good investment."

The counterpoint picture, Grand 'Ol Gang, has a pretty good likeness of Reagan and Ike, but why he has Gdub featured so prominently is beyond me. I also couldn't help but notice he left out Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover (he did have Nixon at the table, though)

48. They all would win heads up against any Republican.
Edwards is probably a shark, tight/aggressive.
Obama is probably a rock, tight/passive.
Clinton is probably a maniac, loose/aggressive.

In a cash game Obama might win. Clinton would limp in a lot, to see flops and take it by the turn. Obama would slow play into big wins. Edwards would make money on successful semi-bluffs.

In a tournament, Edwards might win. Unless Obama could steal blinds the antes would eventually force bad action. Clinton would probably lose a big hand at a bad time. Edwards would be able to steal blinds with the semi-bluffs and win big when they hit on the river.

However, stack size matters, table time too. Of the three, Clinton would have the most chips and know the casino (and its staff) better then the others. That is a big advantage.

In those situations the smaller chip stack usually gets a percentage that is larger than implied by the stack size difference, regardless of skill. :)
