L.A. Times Opinion from Jonathan Chait: "Is the right right on the Clintons?"
Hillary's campaign tactics are causing some liberals to turn against the couple.
January 26, 2008

Something strange happened the other day. All these different people -- friends, co-workers, relatives, people on a liberal e-mail list I read -- kept saying the same thing: They've suddenly developed a disdain for Bill and Hillary Clinton. Maybe this is just a coincidence, but I think we've reached an irrevocable turning point in liberal opinion of the Clintons.

The sentiment seems to be concentrated among Barack Obama supporters. Going into the campaign, most of us liked Hillary Clinton just fine, but the fact that tens of millions of Americans are seized with irrational loathing for her suggested that she might not be a good Democratic nominee. But now that loathing seems a lot less irrational. We're not frothing Clinton haters like ... well, name pretty much any conservative. We just really wish they'd go away.

2. They've turned me against them...
I've felt nothing but disgust at the two of them over the past 3 weeks.

And no I'm not an Obama supporter or a Republican.

It kills me that the man who got me into politics and made me feel good about being an American has done this. I never thought that at age 38 I'd be disillusioned about anything, but this really sucks.

3. Yes, it angered me also, and I have debated whether I would vote for her in the GE
if she won the nomination

Yes, I support Obama,in fact I mailed my ballot in yesterday in California

Also the threads on DU general primaries have augmented that anger. I have been agonizing whether I would vote for her if she was the nominee, and decided I would vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is, but if it is Hillary I can honestly say it will be the only election that I will cast my vote for someone I do not believe in, nevertheless I would do it.

4. The race baiting has turned me against them.
Im an Obama supporter but I definately going to support Clinton if she got the ticket. I mean a month ago I thought "What can be great having the first black president or woman president? " I couldn't lose and hopefully they could be on the same ticket. But the race baiting turned me off. I can't forgive that nor should I. I don't care about the democratic party like that. I care about Civil rights and the end of racism in America much more. I just can't forgive that.

not really even a feminist, but i still loathe the clintons. well bill mostly. i just think hillary is pretty pathetic - philandering creep and abused and publicly humiliated woman.

i was not politically aware then, but i was definitely aware of the scandal going on at the time and came to understand what clinton's extra-curricular activities wrought and my mom made sure i learned something from it by using hillary as an example of someone i don't want to emulate or admire.

they've always been a blight on my world for as long as i can remember...and you just can't unblight a blight.
