Rudy Giuliani: Either he's stupid, or he didn't want to win in the first place.
He was the national frontrunner. Had cash. Had name recognition. He was Mr. National Security. The guy was liked by independents. He had everything in his hands, and he simply blew it off. Maybe he never wanted to win the first place, because scoring loss after loss and then hope to win easily in FL was simply unrealistic. His story is more pathetic than the Fred Thompson fiasco.

So, he's either stupid or was never in to win it. Maybe he's been always looking for the VP spot or something.

1. Too much baggage with the Kerik stuff
and his extramarital nonsense. He just played it out and if McCain wins, will be part of his administration.

3. I don't think that really matters to the primary voting Republican. I
think they see him as too liberal.

2. I think it's the combination of thick-headedness and ego-centric

self-promotion.

"Terrorists flew commercial jets into my city. Give me the bullhorn and call the media!" And presto -- we had Rudy the presidential candidate.

Back in grade school, we can all recall at least one kid who was a thuggish bully in our classrooms.

Then one day that bully's parents opt to move away to another city, and the bully isn't in the classroom any more, not on the playground, not in the cafeteria.

And school got much better then after that.

Giuliani's departure from the GOP nomination race is a lot like that.

4. Probably a little of both
His liberal social positions gave him absolutely no chance of gaining many votes in Evangelical Iowa and South Carolina or Mormon Nevada. I think he skipped New Hampshire thinking it was a lock for next-door neighbor Romney. He placed his chips on Florida and lost badly. It was a calculated risk but (despite leading in polls last summer) he never had any real chance of being the Republican nominee.

5. Spending taxpayer money to have an affair
There was a media blitz against him back in December. I'd say it was the Bush team, but regardless, there was no way he was going to win after that.

6. How pathetic were Tweety's claims tonight - "Rudy was just a victim of poor timing!"
"If the election had taken place in 2001, he would have waltzed to victory!! HA!!!!!"

7. Just Ego Run Wild

I can't say if it was Rudy's or Judi's but somebody was telling themselves that they are 'good enough. Rich enough...and, dang it, tall enough! I wanna be in the White House!' Never mind if their appeal as a mile wide and a micron thick, easily eroded by their sleazy 'courtship' and arrogance.

My God! The Arrogance! They're textbook boomer entitlists! They thought they deserved it because they wanted it. How dare the little voters deny them?
