and if Obama is the nominee will he need those who supported Hillary to win the GE

I think both sides better think long and hard about the consequences of the candidate's supporters taunting each other

because when it comes down to the general election, we will not win the white house unless we stand together

self-destruct the way we are going

11. Well, we're just some bitter ol' political people on here
Most people look at me like I'm crazy when I get into political minutiae that they've never heard of before.

3. supporters taunting isn't the problem...Surrogates and hubbys are
The problem is actual calculated actions by the campaigns themselves. I think the uncoordinated stuff from state supporters is rather minor.

5. I think the portion of Obama supporters with whom he resonates
and who may not have been interested in politics previously are unlikely to instead vote for clinton, and may just stay home. particularly if her opponent is McCain, as I have a hard time seeing much difference in terms of practical policy implications between these two.

Similar situation for GOP voters, though some of those might vote against clinton no matter who is on the ticket.

22. actually I think its a high likelihood but in this case will have only
a marginal effect. Of greater consequence is if the evangelical far right stay home because of McCain. But obviously I think it would be better if we had a candidate with low negatives that could develop a new majority bringing in independents and some republicans.

15. correct, and its getting harder to stand
together with some than others. I don't follow cult leaders. I need more than some sort of Jim Jones type appeal to my emotions. I don't want the cure to be worse than the disease.

20. Interesting thoughts. However, the disease is the current state of the republican platform
and even with our shortcomings, I don't think we are that bad
