Obamas communications director on the Florida results
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 01:20 AM by wlucinda
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/29/fl.primary/index.html

Robert Gibbs, communications director for Obama campaign, downplayed the Florida results and got a dig in at Clinton.

"Mike Gravel is going to get the same number of delegates as Clinton," Gibbs said, referring to the former Alaska senator who has yet to earn a single percentage point in earlier contests.

Gibbs said he thought the results would have little effect on the race heading into Super Tuesday.

"You can't gain momentum in a state that everyone but Hillary Clinton pledged not to campaign in," Gibbs said.

All the candidates did and that was not part of the agreement.

I wonder how Ted and Caroline view Obama's campaign's propensity for Lying with such ease?

Poor JFK, he must be spinning!

2. Hillary's 850,000 votes is more than Obama got in Iowa, Nevada, NH & SC combined
You can downplay it, but you can't discount it's effect.

13. I think so
Go check yourself. They said 100,000 participated in Nevada. He got about 50k then. He got 300k in SC. He got 100k in NH. And then there's Iowa - I don't remember the participation rate, but it couldn't equal 400,000 votes!!

"A Clinton supporter, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida, said about 2.5 million voters cast ballots in the Democratic primary. About 400,000 of those voters cast early or absentee ballots, state election officials said".

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/29/fl.polls.dems/?iref=mpstoryview

I wonder how many of those voters wish they had a second shot, or maybe a little more time to think about it.

Wait, wasn't that why their delegates were taken away, by the DNC?

Clinton 856,944

Obama 568,930

And Clinton needed AFSCME to front it's street opps to get it.

11. Obama vote = Vote Against Racism ! NOT!!!!
If you read between the lines here, Obama’s saying that if he hadn’t won South Carolina it wouldn’t have been a “shift” in racial politics. Which means that a vote for him is a vote against racism, right? Which means that Obama’s playing the racial politics game even as he pretends like he’s not.

If Obama wasn’t playing racial politics, he’d be answering questions about his race by saying that South Carolinians had simply chosen the best candidate, regardless of race. But he didn’t say that. He said that by choosing him, South Carolinians absolved
themselves or their racial sins of the past.

Obama a bigger putz then I first thought....

17. "Gravel is going to get the same number of delegates"
Why antagonize the people of Florida? He realizes these delegates are going to be seated, right? He realizes they're assigned proportionally, right? That it's not winner take all? So pissing off delegates and the people of Florida aids Obama how, exactly? This is his COMMUNICATIONS director? Good golly!

28. As an Obama supporter I will say he was wrong to say that
It's factually not accurate. Now will the Clinton supporters admit when Hillary's campaign does the same kind of thing? Perhaps the Obama campaign realizes they have to start playing dirty too and fudge the truth.

I wish both sides would cut it out.
