Kerry played by the rules in 2004 and got 77% of the vote in the Florida primary, and adhered to the rules in supporting Obama in 2008.

Hillary did horrible by comparison to Kerry. In 2008, she tied her opponents, who didn't even campaign (no robocalls and no surrogates campaigning) in the state.

1. Hillary Clinton received 300,000 more votes than Kerry did in Florida.(2004)
Typical spin though.

Obama almost tied Kerry with votes.

2. Not only did Hillary do better in Florida, than Kerry...
he campaigned in the state and Hillary did not. Better factor that little 'stat' into your calculations.

8. Some of that can be credited to Florida's high population growth rate.
More people moving to the state = more registered voters = higher vote total.

7. Rather than looking at Florida, where the race had already been decided,
the real comparison is that Kerry absolutely dominated the 2004 nomination process from Iowa onward. He lost just 4 states - SC (Edwards' home state), NC(after Kerry had the nomination - Edwards was the favorite son), OK (30% Clark, 30% Edwards, 27% Kerry - in as red a state as you can find), and VT (On night Kerry won all the big states and clinched the nomination - VT went with their favorite son.)

The difference is that there is a real fight this year - that did not seem possible a year or 2 years ago. HRC has been built up as the potential first woman President since 1992 - and intensely since at least 2004. Comparisons to 2004 may be unfair to HRC, if Kerry did not have an opponent who had the magic Obama does. If you think otherwise, that there were candidates or a candidate with that kind of magic, you need to say that Kerry's own combination of charisma and gravitas exceed HRC's to a point where people far more convincingly chose Kerry over them.

9. Agree!
Still, Hillary's last minute Calvinball play in Florida most likely had the same effect as Kerry having locked up the race by the 2004 primary.

No one knows how many people decided not to vote because they understood the rules. Hillary supporters I'm sure got word from her campaign to go vote. She still didn't get the black vote.

All-in-all, this is just a desperate campaign spinning a silver lining after a crushing defeat.
