Sorry to be so cynical on a sad day. The first thing I thought about was Elizabeth's health. The second was desperation for a major endorsement from the Clinton camp.

For what it's worth, I believe Clinton would be the best president for the hard economic times that look like coming. He clarity on economics is startling. But Edwards would have had a real shot in an environment where corporate excess and crime would become self evident.

Sad and I have to say, cynical on Johns part. 'I'll stand with you' indeed.

1. If he endorses Clinton weeks after claiming he and Obama were the change candidates,
it will be extraordinarily cynical.

6. It would indeed be cynical and would, at least for me, bring in question how sincere
his conversion from his Senate record to the battling progressive was.

2. I don't think he'll be endorsing Clinton
During the debates, Edwards seemed to align himself more with Obama, declaring both of them the "change candidates".

5. I remember Tim Russert saying...
during a break at one of the debates...Edwards went up to Obama and encouraged him to "get her!"

Does that mean he's more inclined to support Obama?

I'd say so...

8. Please, please, leave off political junk today.
Can we please honor him today with just remembering what he brought to us and how much we love him and his beautiful wife, Elizabeth?

9. I don't think he'll be endorsing anyone for a while
and I don't believe he dropped out because of any kind of pressure from either of the other candidates. John Edwards is no sell-out.

10. I congratulate John Edwards for bringing forth issues that would
make the caring and concerned folks stop and think. He made it obvious to many that even we that "have" must never forget those that "have not". We must heed the words of Carol Quigley, who said to us that America was the greatest Nation in history because our people had always believed in two things- that tomorrow can be better than today and that every one of us has a personal moral responsibility to make it so.***

*** I heard these words spoken by Bill Clinton in 1992 and those words were burnt onto my heart and have tried to meet them each day.
