Edwards urging Obama during debate break...
I was flipping channels about ten minutes ago, and I caught the tail-end
of some comments that an MSNBC pundit made.

I thought this was really fascinating, and I wondered if anyone else heard it?

The pundit said that during a commercial break in one of the Presidential debates,
Edwards took Obama aside and said, "Come on man, you've got to get into this thing.
You've got to focus and be be more aggressive!".

The pundit asserted that Obama was much more aggressive after that commercial break,
and this was probably due to the pep talk and advice that Edwards gave to Obama.

Maybe I'm reading into things...but that suggests to me a very tight relationship
between Obama and Edwards--and that Edwards leans more toward Obama than Hillary.

1. The "pundit said" And you believe it? Maybe, but it matters little.

16. I realize that I only had...
...a few sentences from a talking head on MSNBC.

However, I thought the comment was revealing and interesting
enough, that we could talk about it.

It might not matter at all. I just thought it was
revealing. If anything, it spoke to how gracious
Edwards is.

2. Yeah, I'm sure that's why John ripped Obama a new asshole
in the last debate. NOT.

6. I don't think Edwards was attacking
Barack. I honestly don't. In fact, I don't think Edwards has ever attacked anyone during the debate. He was never nasty about it. He simply pointed out flaws in the other candidates. Edwards has challenged (not attacked) Clinton on many more issues than he ever has with Barack.

15. No, John handed Obamas' ass to him...
and deservedly so. Perhaps you missed it, but even though I did not support John, he definitely chewed him up.

3. Actually
Tim Russert was the first to say it, and said he witnessed it happen.

4. Yes
David Shuster was the one that reported that a couple weeks ago. I sensed then that Barack and John are pretty close. Even when I see them greet each other it is not a fake smile. Their eyes are warm and they genuinely seem to like each other. I'm not at all saying that Edwards does not like Clinton or whatever. I think he likes her too but simply disagrees with her on several issues.

Keep in mind that after one of the debates Clinton and Edwards had a meeting so who knows what that could mean.

5. I heard it before. It was at the NH debate and it played right into
the, look the boys are ganging up on Hillary meme the Clinton camp was pushing.

I think Edwards has helped Clinton a heck of a lot more than he's hurt her. Now they are spinning it to try to portray Barack as unfocused.

13. In last week's debate, Edwards said nice things about Hillary's healthcare plan.
He pointed out that his and Hillary's plans would guarantee to cover all Americans.

He contrasted this against Obama's plan which does not mandate adults to buy insurance.

9. Well, Edwards was wrong. That strategy would backfire
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 10:00 AM by Truth Hurts A Lot
Strategies must be tweaked in unique situations, i.e., a woman opponent. The last thing Obama needs is to look like a bully.

10. Edwards might lean more to Obama but that does not necessarily
mean that his supporters do.

Edwards says we are two Americas. Obama says we are one America.

I just hope that both candidates keep the poverty message alive.
