John Edwards will not immediately endorse either candidate
The former North Carolina senator will not immediately endorse either candidate in what is now a two-person race for the Democratic nomination, said one adviser, who spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the announcement.

1. Why is he dropping out NOW then? It doesn't make sense!

I mean, JE still could've been a major player in the convention, he could've influenced either of the remaining candidates...

Unless it's something to do with Elizabeth's health, I do not understand why he would drop now.

5. Money? A job in someone's administration?
These are two possible reasons.

6. What does Edwards need with money? I can't see the "job" argument either
It may just be that he has young kids and a wife who is ill, and feels that he can't break out of third, and just wants to quit. And those are fine reasons TO quit, but then why did he always say, "That's the question you have to ask yourself. Who will stand with you when it really matters?"

All his rhetoric has implied that he was in it for the long haul. That's why quitting now doesn't make sense to me, unless he thought his endorsement could help a preferred candidate on Super Tuesday. No endorsement just leaves me scratching my head.

7. No, you misunderstood
I meant he ran out of money to campaign.

Why go on with no money and no chance of winning? I don't think he really wanted to be "kingmaker."

I agree he should endorse someone, preferably Obama.

4. GOOD - he has no obligation to do so!!
He's got every right in the world to take some time and decompress from the whole campaign experience...this endorsement stuff is serious business - take all the time you need, John.
