Is there any chance Gore can be convinced to run?
With today's announcement from Edwards, I'm thinking Gore is really our only shot
to save this country. Is the draft movement still happening? If the message is strong
can he be convinced to get into this thing or is he truly done with politics as
he's been saying all along?

If he's even remotely thinking about it, this is his best chance.

10. I agree....
Either Hillary or Obama will make excellent candidates in the general. As would Edwards if he had won.

But...there's just a bit of a thrill knowing that the democratic candidate will definitely be a woman or an African American. It makes me proud to be a democrat!

2. That ship sailed a while ago.
I'm sorry to say it, as I was hope for the longest time for a Gore candidacy as well, but I really think it's too late for him to jump in mount a successful campaign now.

3. Al did say he can't see running barring unforeseen circumstances.
Would this fit that? I would think so. Do I believe such a grand situation like that would occur? Not betting a single nickel.

6. No, we're screwed
Time to accept it and be prepared for another Republican in the WH. Take a break, get on with your life. Prepare yourself for the bad times ahead. There's nothing we can do, its out of our hands.

33. Sorry, I'm no sucker. I don't support corporate controlled candidates
Be a chump if you want and spend your hard earned money and time to help candidates who, if elected, will hew strictly to a corporate agenda.

Why would you want to spend time and money on a candidate who has no intention of responding to your needs? The first thing any candidate does when they take office is begin raising money for their next election. They're getting tens of millions from private insurance companies, defense contractors and companies that pollute the environment and send jobs overseas. Do you really think they'll jeapordize those tens of millions to support you?

Belieive it if you wish, I don't condemn you for it. But I've been down this road before with these people and I'm not wasting my time or money on them any more.

13. It's too late for Gore to take part in the primaries.
And without Edwards, there is zero chance of a brokered Convention.

So I am afraid we will never see Al Gore's inauguration ... :-(

It seems like RFK got into the race pretty late.

32. RFK declared in March of `68, but that was a much different time than now
We had a sitting president drop out after barely squeaking by in NH, and a primary process that was more elongated and relaxed than the shortened, tense calendar that we have now.

15. Al Gore's Current Media files for $100 million IPO
Here is one of the reasons that he won't be involved much in this years race. Al's network is trying to raise a lot of money, he can't afford to be too partisan. This should also put to rest any talk of a draft Gore movement or a run for the White House.

Current Media said Gore, who won the Nobel Peace Prize last year, and Hyatt have been instrumental in securing distribution and advertising agreements for Current TV. It warned that the departure of either executive would be a risk.

"In particular, if Mr. Gore were no longer actively involved in our business or no longer to hold a substantial ownership stake in us, our relationships with key distributors and our business could be materially and adversely affected,"
Current Media said in the filing.

This is in addition to his new partnership in the large Silicon Valley venture capital firm. I think Mr. Gore has moved beyond politics.
