2. I don't think so
He got a big fundraising boost after SC, and his campaign was scheduled to hold rallies across the country. Even yesterday, they were talking about opening an office in S. Dakota to cover the western states. It sounds like he at least had enough money to last through Super Tuesday. IMO a deal was struck w/someone to get Edwards out before the debate tomorrow. He wins pretty much every debate, so both Obama & Clinton would want him out so that they could go head-to-head.

3. I believe it's coming down
to delegate counts - last time I looked, he was still running a debt free campaign.
