Attorney General John Edwards.

Think about that for a minute.

I'm heartbroken about losing Edwards as a candidate. I feel like we need an advocate for the poor, for the workers, and no one has spoken for them in decades. I'm heartbroken.

And, after the last few years, I've gotten used to thinking of the Attorney General as the Big Cop. That's all. But the person who wears that title largely gets to set the agenda for the national law enforcement.

Under Ashcroft, the Attorney General's office fought drugs and pushed the Patriot Act. Under Gonzales, the Attorney General's office fought nonexistent "voter fraud."

What if we had an Attorney General who cares about laborers? Someone who pushes for the enforcement of laws, environmental and otherwise, against corporations? Someone who uses the office of the Attorney General to keep HMOs and insurance companies in line? Someone who deploys the US Attorneys to go after corporate abuses and protect the rights of workers?

Yo, Hillary and Obama: commit to AG Edwards and you've got my support.

I think thats why John has decided now would be a good time to get out.

He'd scare the bejeesus out of the corporate criminals and BFEE.

All the future Ken Lays quaking in their boots....
