3. Must?
Noooooo, there is no must when it comes to this.

I would like nothing more than to see Wes as VP (since I'm not going to see him as POTUS...drat)however, I have yet to get a handle on what it is that Wes & Gert want.

So, I will be supportive of whatever Wes does, even if it doesn't include a position in a future Democratic government.

Don't make those of us who are willing to allow this thing to play out without clamoring for what "we" want seem as though we don't care.

Maybe that's not what you post means but it kind of comes across that way.

4. I'm not sure how we petition Kerry
I think it's a bad idea to spam them with emails and/or annoy them with a deluge of blog posts.

Hey, Wes probably talks to Kerry daily. He's out stumping for him and filling in at events as Kerry's surrogate. He is obviously NOT off of their radar. I seriously doubt that a dozen or few hundred ardent Clarkies are going to swing the VP decision although they might become annoying. This is for Wes to handle.

What can we do:

1) attend Kerry meetups and Kerry events branded as Clark supporters for Kerry;

2) donate to Kerry, as individuals deem appropriate, but make sure your donation gets logged at www.wesclarkdemocrats.com so that we can add it to the tally we'll be reporting to the Kerry campaign.

3) send articulate, reasoned pro-Wes letters to editors.

5. Good ideas...
since it's entirely Kerry's decision who his running mate will be, and he probably won't decide until just before the convention.

But, don't get your hopes up. The decision, just like Cabinet appointments, will have a lot to do with the regular Democrat support he gets. Some Governor or Senator who can deliver the votes has a friend... The decision he makes will be his own, but he will have "lots" of advice.

Note that throughout our history, running mates tend to be a surprise, and I can't think of any Presidents who chose one of their competitors in the primary competition.

VP candidates are not there to look better than, or almost as good as, the Presidential candidate. The other primary candidates may also leave the impression of loser that no one wants associated with the real campaign.

7. I'm not in favor
Wes hasn't said he wants this for himself, so I prefer not to promote it. All sorts of reasons go into choosing a VP and a cabinet and Kerry has the people who know how to go about it. This is between Kerry and Wes, and not for us to interfere with. IMHO.

8. I Agree
I think it would be presumptious of us to try to dictate to Kerry.

He won the nomination & it's his decision.

It would probably backfire.

9. I would like to see Clark picked but
I think I would rather leave it up to the two of them, they are more apt to know what is needed most in a VP.

10. Let the process take care of itself. If asked, Clark will most certainly
say yes. But he has to be asked. It would be nothing but another problem for anyone to go hat-in-hand asking the Kerry pick him, and it would certainly be used against Kerry during the campaign if he were seen to be forced to have Clark as his running mate.

This is Kerry's race to run, now. Let's let him run it.

P.S. I'd love to see a Kerry/Clark ticket. I just don't think we can or should try to force our guy onto the ticket.
