Edwards didn't DIE, you know
A little perspective, maybe? What's all this talk about "mourning" the dropping out of John Edwards?

He wasn't polling all that well and he didn't win any races. It was, in fact, quite predictable that this would happen. I hate it that the choice has come down to Clinton and Obama, but people - RELAX.

Technically, this was all over when it became clear that the only real liberal candidate - Dennis Kucinich - never even had a shot.

1. Not now, please
Everyone who has lost a candidate in this race has gone through the stages of grief.

Please be sensitive.

2. No doubt. Hell go back to his warm, comfortable 20K SQFT Home
and collect a nice income from speaking fees, book sales, and capital gains (from stocks, etc), while the majority of us sit hungry in cold homes (that we are losing ownership of) with no means to pay for any of it.

People are seemingly being disheartened about inconsquential happenings in these hard times. Nothings going to change my world.

3. You obviously didn't "get it"
Edwards is building homes in NOLA for Habitat for Humanity.

That's what John Edwards has that only others with humanity can see, apparently.

You are apparently too young or too blinded to see that the United States of America just lost her last chance at survival.

5. No I didn't get "it" at all.
His message was that of neccessity to differentiate his campaign from two media 'superstars', but his lack of substance and phony car-salesman nature prevented it from resounding amongst those who would normally rally behind a populist.

I stand in the camp that had the most contempt for the man: those who need someone to fight for them but saw through pandering and lies that revealed a mere politician.

Look..."last chance at survival" is quite a bit melodramatic.

6. Like I said, you didn't get "IT"
Go back to your Shill-o-Bama threads, keep your head in the sand, and you'll see what's coming down the pike soon enough, Mr/Ms Lemming.

9. Shill-o-Bama threads? Angry lately...
Lemmings normally die off in the end, but thats not really my nature. I actually just completed the immigration process to a social-democratic country, and will have real single-payer universal health care within 3 months after I land. This primary season affects me less than any I have yet witnessed. In fact, I am pretty emotionally unbiased.

When you are not emotionally biased, it tends to aid you ability to correctly percieve and interpret to events, rather than bend them around misconstrued notions in one's brain.

I didn't get "it" because it doesn't exist. Not in him anyway.

14. Oh, you're leaving
That's why you don't give a shit Well buh bye - have a nice life.

Today really isn't a good day to be dissing Edwards to his supporters, by the way. You might want to see if you can restrain yourself from judging other people, especially people who live to help others like John Edwards.

24. I cannot see that he "lives" to help others...
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 04:32 PM by Oregone
You are talking about a man that has a net wealth of around 40 million....

Much like the agnostic argument from evil....

1. If he has all the knowledge to help people (omniscience)
2. If he lives to do so, and has an absolute drive to (omnibenevolence)
3. If he has the financial and political means to do so (omnipotence)

Conclusion:

Jon Edwards would invest such a reasonable amount of his personal wealth to aid the poor, while still at least maintaining the amount neccessary to fund his lavish lifestyle. In otherwords, he could probably spend 30 million (since he has the knowledge of how to do so, the drive to, and the financial ability to) and it wouldn't be any different to him.

But, he still has not done so, and poverty he could stop still exists.

Hence, I find premise 2 (at least) to be suspect. Therefore, by contradiciton, there is no Theistic Jon Edwards. Just sayin.

20. Look...
At a time I thought everyone is entitled to their opinion, but apparently that isn't the case here.

The people of America need a real progressive champion to protect their right to health, prosperity, education, and ability to survive and fight back against the corporate class warfare that is being waged.

But lining up behind phantom images and charades should be of much concern. It does the real hard working American people no good. If that isn't something I am allowed to have an opinion about on this board, that is beyond sad.

As well as your apparent inability to use some empathy.

But I feel this same way about corrupt televangelist raking in millions from poor needy people, and perhaps you do (so maybe you can understand a bit where I am coming from)

30. Recovering Fundy Here...
I can relate to the televangelist deal... "Send me your money"... but this is different. There are a lot of intelligent, kind and socially concerned people here who saw a REAL need for change, and they weren't seeing it in "The Other Two". Edwards had a vastly different view than "The Other Two". "The Other Two" had Senate voting records that differed by single digit percentages. Edwards stood out from them, and he didn't go for their flavor of childish, schoolyard, hair pulling. There's no need to bash him now. Why don't you find a nice spot in one of "The Other Two" camps and leave the slam dancing for whichever you don't choose?

10. Why can't people just drop it? If we want to support another candidate we will. How about just
leave it at that? And after Super Tuesday, which among you will be bummed out because your candidate is done? Remember how you have acted on this day.

that were only ever going to happen under John Edwards.

Allow us time to be upset. Don't judge. Apparently you have no idea what this feels like so
don't make rude observations that aren't necessary.

Save your rant for the candidates left standing ,to actually promote issues which are germane to the entirety of the Party, and those least represented, such as the impoverished.
