What about Michael Dukakis?
This may be his moment. Seriously.

A lot of people said a Greek American can never win the presidency, but that was then. I think the electorate has changed significantly.
It might be a little bit of an uphill battle, but I think it's a fight worth taking on. After all, he may lose the GE, but think of what a statement it would make about our ideas and ideals - that we sill believe in the same things we believed in back then.

A time like this is not a time to stay comfortable and lazy with a "safe" victory. There's nothing really on the line in the General Election, so now is the time to go for it in terms of making a progressive statement with our selection. So I nominate Michael Dukakis for President in 2008.

3. I was thinking Dukakis-Ferarro.
Mondale is a bit too old IMHO.

4. At a time like this, we need to make sure another neocon doesn't get into power.
That should be our #1 priority.

7. It's not whether you win or lose
It's how you play the game. And now is the time for statements, not easy victories.

11. When talking about neocons, it IS whether you win or lose.
Unless you want to stay in Iraq forever, further destroy our economy, and generally remove everyone's rights.

15. We've already lost. Get it?
There isn't going to be any hope or change. All there will be is illusions of a gentle rain falling as people piss on you.

10. Would you at least put the "sarcasm" smilie in your post
So that I can be absolutely positive beyond a shadow of a shadow of a doubt that you're not serious.

12. You know Dukakis is a good man who actually did better in '88 than Bill C did in '92
in terms of popular vote. Duke got nearly 47% while Clinton got 43%. Even in '96 Clinton got only 49%. Dukakis also was the first nominee of the dems to win such states as Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon and Washington in many an election cycle.

16. Hey, Jon Lovitz could do his spot-on impression of Dukakis again on "SNL"
He could do guest apperances...maybe Darrell Hammond could come up with a McCain impression...laughs galore!

No...I don't think America is crying out for Michael Dukakis...nice guy that he is.

17. Remember "The Man from Hope"? He won, and....
We've got another running who is offering us the new direction that the last "Man from Hope" failed to deliver.

I'll go with that kind of safe victory. Safe in that New Voters will be energized and give us a complete victory.
