According to McCaskill, Missouri voters like Obama because
he doesn't trash the opposition party.? I am speechless.

Obama doesn't trash the Republicans but it's ok to trash Hillary, a fellow Dem?

4. H just did in Denver. Read the transcript of his speech.
"...Hillary is a polarizing, divisive candidate.." I call that trashing. Think of how that would play to the Republicans should she win the nomination. That's far different than talking about experience or lack of experience.

I call that well researched truth.

12. "Hillary is divisive, polarizing!"
I call that "repeating a right-wing meme."

17. Not just right-wing
....it's factual evidence of dem indies, dem mods, etc. And just because I state such reality is not a slam against Hillary.

Hillary CANNOT win.

23. There's a poster on the linked thread that supports Hillary precisely
because she will be confrontational (divisive, polarizing?) with Republicans.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4296753

"I totally agree. I'm sick of the namby-pamby, let's make nice approach. Repukes should be demonized cause they have enabled a regime to profit from war, wallow in incompetence and and call us unpatriotic and terrorist-sympathizers.

Reaching out to get them to "work with us" will only get us "worked over", yet again."

If that were the only such post, there would be no perception that Hillary supporters revel in her style of stick it to the Republicans and let the chips fall where they may. You may use another definition of "polarizing" and "divisive" than others here do.

Look if that's what you want in your presidential nominee, more power to you. She's your candidate. Just don't praise her style and then deny that it exists.

16. You call that trashing.
Many, including, me see that as the largest flaw in her candidacy next to her 2 war votes.

You got to be kidding worrying about the Repukes using that charge.

They have been for years. It is the Democrats that have started to see it in the last several months.

It is why Edward Kennedy endorsed Obama and said that he does not think that she can win in the
general now.

6. Thank you for challenging this obnoxious accusation.
I guess if you say anything critical about HRC's policies or positions, "you are trashing the Clintons."

All hail The Clintons. No one must challenge you in any way.

18. How about implying Hillary;s position on Pakistan caused Bhuto's assasination?
How about his mischaracterizing her difference on meeting with our enemies (which seesm to be about protocol) as her abandonment of diplomacy?

How about Obama demanding Hillary denounce attacks by her surrogates while remaining silents as his surrogates attacker her?

Hillary is certainly no angel and has given Obama all she has.

But this seems endemic to the Obama campaign, that he literally can do no wrong.

10. Not sitting with, not shaking a hand. THAT's trashing.
"You're likable enough." THAT's trashing.

Many people don't understand nonverbal language. Or can only understand a sentence literally. Others have a more profound grasp of language and know exactly what's happening.

Saying her actions caused Bhuto's assasination?

Christ its like everyone has amnesia about what happened over the last few months.

24. Really? Here's some reading for ya then
Obama made "a far-fetched attempt to connect the killing of Ms. Bhutto with Ms. Clinton's vote on the war in Iraq," the Post editorialized. "After the candidate made the debatable assertion that the Iraq invasion strengthened al-Qaeda in Pakistan, his spokesman, David Axelrod, said Ms. Clinton 'was a strong supporter of the war in Iraq, which we would submit was one of the reasons why we were diverted from Afghanistan, Pakistan and al-Qaeda, who may have been players in the event today.' "

http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/2007/12/obama-bhuttos-d.html

The racsim charge was done stealthily thru surrogates. Obama waited a week while Hillary got her ass kicked then he swooped in with a phony defense.

Same shit as McClurkin, get what you need then disavow the action.

Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 04:29 PM by BenDavid
after last night big vote receiving win and obama coming in 4th I believe more 2/5 states will change......one thing I would have asked the Senator from Mo. would have been: Senator, IF your candidate gets the nomination are you saying that since Senator obama has said "There's no white America, there's no Black America, there's just the United States of America," You mean the Republicans are going to play fair, and show Obama respect? You mean like they played fair and showed Gore respect? You mean like they played fair and showed Kerry respect?

8. Obama doesn't trash the Republicans cause they haven't pointed their guns at him yet
When he goes toe to toe with the inevitable smear campaigns, you'll see some sparks. To be fair, I worry that he may be a little slow to engage. He's not really had any tough races against Republicans.

13. Poppy Bush likes Clintons cuz they didn't trash his son for 7 years and even
supported him mightily throughout Bill's summer 2004 book tour, defending him from the criticisms of the left - uh - that would be the criticisms of the Dem NOMINEE at the time, John Kerry, whose criticisms of Bush on terrorism and Iraq war strategy were warranted, Bill.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/06/19/clinton.iraq/

Something tells me Bill knew exactly what he was doing when he spent those three weeks on the book tour and publicly defended Bush's decisions while ignoring the Dem nominee's positions.

:eyes:

Not a supporter of either candidate over the other (I'll vote for the Dem, whoever it is), but this is just perverse. The RepubliCONS have done so much to hurt this country that I am perplexed by any Dem who DOESN'T criticize them!
