GIVE 'EM HELL, KERRY!
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 02:40 PM by NightTrain
OK, so he wasn't my first choice for the nomination. But now that he's going up against Bush, I'll do everything I can to help John Kerry become our next president.

So, who's with me? :kick:

22. A great image.
Kerry should do a whistle stop rail tour waving one of those "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN" newspapers.

46. True, but...
He is now considered one of the most effective populist presidents in history. Also, most americans associate that headline with the power of the underdog, not with an unpopular presidency.

And OK, maybe Kerry shouldn't wave the headline, but the train tour would still be a HUGE visual symbol; espescially if he makes speeches from the rear platform about the struggles of the American workers who built the tracks and cars.

6. Not my first choice either
However, he's my number one choice now. He'll need our spiritual assistance as well as financial as the hateful, disgusting operatives of the right wing will bludgeon him daily. I have every confidence the rove machine will explode before it brings down Lieutenant Kerry. Too bad for rove - Kerry has been in a tussle before.

10. Unfortunately, I can't give Kerry my financial assistance.

I barely have enough money to cover my bills each month. However, I thought I might take Election Day off from my job and spend it driving shut-ins to and from the polls. Hey, It'll help to increase voter turnout. And the Democrats always seem to do well when the turnout is higher.

Remember 1992? 86% turnout and Clinton was in, baby!

7. no choice
at all.

Must vote for Kerry, or not at all. Not at all is not an option given Bush's fascistic leanings. M vote will be for Kerry, but more against Bush. I hate being in this position, really.

Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 03:54 PM by Marianne
asking me to compromise on that will only cause me to avoid voting at all. I am forced to vote for Kerry. Period.

In the end, all one really has is one's own integrity. The end is when you are on your death bed, reviewing your life and the decisions you made. You can live with immoral compromise, maybe. but I cannot and will not.

Thanks

12. I said here in GD a year ago that Kerry would be our man
If ya'll listened to me then you could've avoided all the consternation I've been reading here the last few months.

It comes down to this fact in 2004. Although Dean and the others have qualities you like in a leader, the fact is we need that Vietnam vet status that Kerry has to unseat Bush. With Kerry in, the Bush cabal cannot claim Kerry has no relevant knowledge in national defense which is the 'biggie' issue outside of our economic problems.

Cheers

And I will be DC on Jan 20th 2005 to watch him be sworn in as President of the United States (and to boo Chimpy.)
