18. What we're looking for is "I apologize for VOTING for the IWR" , not "I apologize FOR the IWR".
HRC was not responsible for the resolution's existence. HRC was responsible for voting for it when, if the public and the antiwar movement already knew the truth, it goes without saying that she did too.
And the analogy of Gore losing his home state doesn't hold. What Gore could have and SHOULD have apologized for(and still could)was his refusal and his insistence that the Senate Democrats JOIN in his refusal to support the Congressional Black Caucus challenge to Florida's electoral votes. I assume you'll agree with me that Gore was wrong to accept the DLC arguement that avoiding looking TOO concerned about the disenfranchisement of black voters was more important than standing up against an illegitimate electoral process.
