Obama already has the people who want a purity test on Iraq. He's preaching to the choir. The undecideds are concerned about losing their job and whether their home will be foreclosed and getting affordable health care. All issues that play to Hillary's strengths.

2. The longer people talk about the IWR and Hillary
The lower she will drop in the polls.

So good job keeping this a hot issue!

8. It's a big issue on DU
I'm not sure that discussing it a lot here on DU will change a lot of minds out there...

5. In the GE, you are right
but in the Democratic base, the Iraq war is a deal breaker.

Not to mention that the two issues are DIRECTLY related!

(no war, economy pretty good - even with the tax cuts / war + tax cuts - economy BAD, very BAD)

Military spending and the war in Afghanistan is what killed the Soviet Empire. And they suffered a great deal for the next 15 years... and then they found oil and diamonds in Siberia - so things are better now.

12. The tanking dollar...
is related to the fact we have devalued it by borrowing so much fucking money to fund the Iraq war.

7. The precarious fiscal situation of the US....
is also related to vast amounts of money we've blown in Iraq. The financial fate of the nation hangs in the balance, and Hillary contributed to a massive fucking lie.

A lie that has gotten people killed.

You go ahead and call deaths of troops a non-issue. Some of us think it is an issue.

9. Hillary wasn't that strong on those issues.
They didn't really talk about jobs and Obama was better on taxes.

10. 65% of US citizens are not against the war and can ADMIT it was a mistake
and that they made a mistake by thinking it was a good idea. Hillary still won't do that!

13. Wanna bet? Did the economy kill 4000 Americans in Iraq?
The economy matters most certainly, but Iraq is a big issue as well.

How could you define Iraq as anything other than a "big" issue? Then what the heck is it? Not a big issue?

15. The Economy is the #1 Issue
There are whole regions of the country, (such as here in the Midwest, and the Northeast, where we used to have a strong, unionized manufacturing economy, and now have economic depression), where this is a rising panic, with real consequences. This is the #1 issue according to all the polls, and it is proof of the significance of the issue, that before the campaign, the candidates were all over the place on issues, and once they started going out on the campaign trail, meeting people--hit with millions of angry, frightened people losing everything--they all, suddenly, develoed "economic plans," when none of these people were even referring to the devastated economy as an unemployment/foreclosure issue for the middle class at all. Now, they give us these half-assed "rebates," which shows they still do not get it, but now they have to respond to the issue. It was the American people who made them respond, with the people's own original questions and concerns.
