The Reviews Are In: Hillary 'Eminently Likeable,' 'Really Impressive,' 'Presidential'
ABC News' Jake Tapper - 'Clinton has a really steady tone tonight, solid and presidential. Eminently likeable.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/01/live-blogging-8.html

CNN's Bill Schneider 'Clinton comes across as more polished and knowledgeable.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/31/schneider-the-heart-vs-the-head/

New Republic's Michael Crowley 'Hillary has a really impressive fluency and confidence in the details.
http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_stump/archive/2008/01/31/health-care.aspx

NBC News' Domenico Montaro
- Hillary 'knocked it out of the park.' "Hillary's been asked that question before and it is central to Obama's argument -- why should the country vote for a Clinton when there's been either a Bush or a Clinton on the ballot for a generation. She knocked it out of the park with a line she's used before, saying, it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and it might take another Clinton to clean up after this Bush. It's about as good as she could answer it and it got a standing ovation."

Washington Post's Chris Cillizza Hillary 'turned a tough question into a terrific moment.' "Whether or not Clinton had that line in her hip pocket for tonight, she delivered it well and turned a tough question into a terrific moment."

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/01/clinton_on_clinton_1.html

TPM's Josh Marshall 'Hillary's on a tear here.-
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/176529.php

MyDD's Todd Beeton 'Hillary gave a strong answer on her Iraq vote.
http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/1/31/20582/3532

Los Angeles Times' Don Frederick 'Clinton got the biggest response of the night' "Clinton got the biggest response of the night when she reprised a line she's used before about the prospective Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton White House tenures. It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, she said -- clearly knowing it was a surefire line -- and it might take a Clinton to clean up after the second."

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/01/the-running-tic.html

The Hill's A.B. Stoddard: 'I think she handled herself wonderfully tonight.'

ABC News' Rick Klein ' generally excels when the talk is substantive, and she handled the focus on health care rather masterfully.'

12. I think they both did a great job
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 06:24 AM by MrWiggles
I am proud of them for keeping it positive and they attacked who needed to be attacked (Bush, McCain, Republicans). I liked the tone and substance of the debate and I am proud of both candidates.

13. Both did an excellent job, even when they disagreed.
The tone was respectful and cognizant of the fact that America is watching. I liked that both of them actually called Wolfie on his self-assigned role of provacetuer and he stopped after a couple of slaps. My husband and I both agree that if this had been the tone and tenor of the campaigns to date, we would not have so many hard feelings.

Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 06:34 AM by JTFrog
Unless by cleaning up the whitehouse they meant sweeping Poppy's shit under the rug and dusting those republican policies off the shelves. Had they actually investigated instead of "cleaning up" we would never have been stuck with Dim Son.

*edit - polices - policies

16. Edwards suppporter
finally hearing a little substance from our front runners. I've gained some respect for Obama tonight that I didn't have before. but, with Edwards out of the race, Hillary is, without a doubt, the one.

Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 07:35 AM by golddigger
And after watching last nights debate...my vote will go to Hillary Clinton. Also I might add the powers that be had Edwards drop out because...it will be an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket. Edwards was promised A.G., remember what I have stated here. This will be how it unfolds. Also when Edwards was making his speech about suspending his candidacy he said something that stuck in my mind "it will be an historic election for the democratic party." And you know what IT WILL BE!!! :toast:

18. LOL, pretty selective...e.g. only half the Crowley quote is given!
The entire post was..."Hillary has a really impressive fluency and confidence in the details. But for Obama, merely invoking Ted Kennedy's support on this topic may be like swinging a wrecking ball through the edifice of Hillary's sophisticated talk."

I suppose this is also a random selection of blogs and media sources to begin with as well. Do you really think we cannot decide for ourselves what we think about the candidate's responses?

29. it tis not a matter of one all of a sudden loving the msm as
one posted earlier. It is more like the msn verify what i saw in the debate.....and the following is what I called earlier yesterday before the debate....I said that fox news and frank luntz would have some undecided voters and I would bet my endorsement of HRC that when he comes on the independent voters would all say obama won.....which is opposite of what the independents said on cnn viewing the candidates with the meter.....HRC was given the nod...

31. I watched the debate in the campaign office where I volunteer.
We stopped making phone calls a little before 8PM (we had dozens of volunteer forms filled out and were calling people to confirm).

We thought that they both did well, but that Hillary did better on most points as she's just the better debater of the two and her responses were more detailed and substantive. We obviously are biased but also realistic, if she had sucked we would have said so too. We also kept an eye on the people meter on a computer and noticed that she was doing great with them too. Today CNN said that she won that group by 60% to 40%.

We loved the line about taking a Clinton to clean up after a Bush and timed the applause to way over a minute. The only other round of applause louder than that was when they were both asked if they would consider running together.

All in all, I'm proud of both our candidates. They looked stunning together and, just like most others watching, we thought that they would be unbeatable if they teamed up.

A great night for Democrats!!!!!!
