Am I the only one who believes that the GOP has a black, and a woman candidate waiting in
the wings.

This whole GOP primary season has been a giant focus group to find out the public hot button issues and to let us form our usual circular firing squad.

They will not let us make history without a fight and I do not believe they will settle for the oldest candidate category.

I have named names in other posts and will leave that to them for now, in order to prevent this thread from being another pissing contest about possibilities.

The controlling faction of the GOP is a lots of things, but stupid it is not. Their convention in MN will be their last desperate hope and they will go for it. I will not bother you with this theory any more but feel we had better be prepared for it and a strong 3rd party candidate.

2. Exactly. Of course, that then takes the race/gender card completely off the table in the GE, not a
bad thing.

Rice is unpleasant and dour. I say Go For It!

12. Man, would I love it if Condi was the Republican nominee.
Her shocking incompetence as National Security Adviser was a major factor in how the attacks of 9/11 came to fruition. She should've been prosecuted, not promoted. I'd be glad if we had a chance to remind the American people of her story.

28. How often does her incompetence come up in the media, though?
she's generally gotten a free pass from them.

19. I have heard
her mentioned as being a possible VP for Willard McCain. I think that this was to try to make Mitt mor acceptable to those who realize he has zero experience on foreign affairs. When he was asked about his lack of insight on international politics, Mitt said it wasn't a problem, because he could rely on the State Department. That was, I believe, one of the reasons some people began to push the Condi option.

7. waiting in the wings?
to be the nominee?

No. Their candidate will be someone who's in the race now. There aren't any GOP african-americans or women of significant enough stature to get the nomination. They have two of any stature - both Secretaries of State. Neither one appears to want the job, nor could either one get it.

15. Nope
I know you're quite fond the idea of some real "outsider" being pulled in, but I can't think of any reason why that might happen at all.

GOP CEO's? Who? Meg Whitman? Known by about 1% of Americans, if that many.

13. Forget Condi. Michael Steele is the guy to worry about.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 10:45 AM by TexasObserver
Condi is little more than a Bush family asset.

Steele is the guy who really has some potential on a national ticket, IMO. But let's get real. A black American on the Republican ticket? Not happening.

20. Steele is a dynamic guy. Hard to dismiss.
But it's the Republican party. They'll make him the head of an agency, but give him a place on the ticket for the party that DEPENDS on racism to win? It ain't gonna happen. It's still a party of, for and by white people.

Long shot: Romney.

That is all.

18. Let me chime in here on Condi,
Condi was the president or something like that as Stanford U while my uncle was teaching ecnomnics there. They could not wait to see her leave. She actually has no brains and has (to her credit) miraculously stayed afloat.

If the repubs let her anywhere near Hillary or Obama in any capacity it will be the bludgeoning of the century.

23. Stay Home?
I don't think so, if you ever had a minority on a puke ticket they'd be forming up into their militias so fast our heads would spin. I don't care if it was their neocon buddy Rice, the fact that she's black disqualifies her in the face of modern republicanism.
