Is McCain still vulnerable on the Keating Five scandal?
Although not related to the current housing/mortgage company swindler crisis scandal, it's somewhat similar to the savings and loan crap. So why is Mitt not using this? And if Mitt doesn't, should the eventual Democratic candidate? And if they don't, should some group try to swiftboat him on it?

2. I don't think Dems should use it...
if he gets the nom. He was the one Republican in the Keating Five, after all.

3. One of the reasons
McCain is disliked by some conservatives is the Keating 5 scandal.

It's pretty old news but that won't stop his opponents from dragging out into the light of day again.

4. Play the best hand now, don't wait till he is selected
Email the MSM, tell your state representatives to bring it up, write letters to the local newspapers, let them know Gramps is a sham.

And a liar.

5. I don't know if he's still vulnerable on it
But I'd like to see the Dem nominee make an effort to find out.

7. Well, he admitted himself that he didn't know enough about economics. It's been a number of years
since the Keating 5, and he is saying that he hasn't learned anything more about the housing finance market. I think that it shows how he can be trapped into supporting the views of lobbyists. Oh, but excuse me, he's been battling those earmarks for his entire career - right?

What did the Arab world think when that got out, that he was kidding???Or did they think just another NeoCon Bush stooge to wage war on them has resurfaced.

10. *
for whatever reason, there seems to be a period of time that makes such things irrelevant to media narratives

the keating 5 thing never gets any traction when it's played: it should really sink someone's career, but it hasn't, and no one seems to care anymore

McCain is seen as so ethical

12. Hell yes, Popeye the Sailor is vulnerable on Keating Five!!
It's about time to stoke those coals, too.

With the current crisis in financial and credit markets, it's very appropriate to talk about the billions of dollars McCain's buddies cost the taxpayers in that fiasco.

14. It would not be swiftboating as that involves lying about the claims.
The Keating Five was a real scandal and needs to be broadcast loud are far!

It is DEFINITELY fair game!

15. True. I was using that term very loosely...
in terms of bombarding the campaign with charges that they have to spend a lot of time and money on.

But you're right.
