BARACK OBAMA IS A EGOTISTICAL/DIVISIVE MARK ON THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
I am thoroughly incensed and disgusted with his campaign strategy to scare voters (like the republicans do)against Universal Health Care.

He will do anything, to get in the Oval Office. He has absolutely no regard for democratic principles, he only has regard for himself. If he wins the primaries you can kiss Universal Health care away. It will never become a reality because of the tactics he uses to scare voters into voting for him.

This is the lowest tactic I have seen used in this campaign, thus far. One of our own losing our chance at Universal Health Care so he can be president. He only cares about himself. If he really cared about the American people, he would have never sunk this low. He will never be able himself to pass anything close to Universal Health Care himself because he created an ad that any good ole republican would have produced about him. He has become one of them on this issue. He caved for votes and who loses, the American people lose.

Hillary was right when she said she would fight for us on this. I guess he was just giving us some false hopes.

Well I hope the the citizens of this country who hope for Universal Health Care won't be short changed and wake up to these tactics.

35. That really bothers me about Obama
Because I read today that Obama would go for the mandate too. He's just being dishonest about it now.

Universal health care can't happen without a mandate. If we want success after the election, the voters must hear the truth before.

have a mandate

49. No. When cornered on the details they admit they'll have
mandates for everybody.

There are a couple of concerns about that approach. One is the problem of "adverse selection." Sicker people - or people with a greater likelihood of becoming sick - will enroll. That will drive plan costs up, making it prohibitively expensive.

"Let's look at the level of coverage you can get without a mandate. Our estimates, based on studies in the literature, is that we can get 98% or 99% coverage without a mandate for adults. There may be some small pockets of people who choose not to buy it."

What about those people?

"If there are free riders, Obama is open to mandates. But what he is saying is 'Look, mandates seem like a panacea, but that's not where the hard work needs to be done.' Auto insurance is a mandate, too, and not everyone has that. You've got to prove to the public that you're willing to do the hard work.'"

56. Universal health coverage IS mandated coverage
Universal health coverage means everyone is covered. You can't cover everyone without making it a requirement that they participate in the program. Without that requirement, its not universal.

Obama just chose to take a good progressive concept and stick a negative label on it. Obama is, in essence, trying to kill universal health care.

57. Universal health coverage IS mandated coverage
Single payer is just a method for paying for the program. Believe me, a single payer system won't be free either.

That Obama and his supporters would rather kill our chances for health care reform to score political points is beneath contempt.

Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 04:47 PM by Old Crusoe
because if our ticket wins the White House, the veep nom will preside over the Senate which ultimately will be "the decider" of any legislation offering meaningful health care reform.

No matter the presidential nominee, the veep choice is absolutely critical regarding any number of pieces of key legislation.

She will fight for her neolib goals, the health industry, and the investor class that supports her.

She will harm the working class and LGBTs, just as her husband did with NAFTA, Telecom Act of 1996, DOMA, and DADT.

Good thing we have a non-divisive candidate like Hillary in the campaign! A women with the highest negatives in the race, a women that would unify and put back together a broken Republican party single handedly!

A women who's campaign surrogates played the race card pulling a page directly from the Karl Rove playbook!

All Obama does is inspire the public and draw masses of young people into the democratic party thereby expanding the party and making it the dominate party for the next generation.

61. the "rezko scandal"

Today, Europeans are talking about this across the pond:

Should Mr Obama win the Democratic nomination for the presidential race, the attack dogs of the Republican Party will be all over the "Rezko scandal". Mr Obama will be attacked for actions which though perfectly legal have left him vulnerable on one of his campaign's key selling points: his good judgement.

He now describes as "boneheaded" a financial deal he made with Mr Rezko to buy a strip of land, just 10 feet wide, from the plot Ms Schwan is now trying to sell. His difficulty is that he made the property deal at a time when his political sponsor and former close friend Rezko has been indicted on federal corruption charges, an affair that was blasted all over the Chicago media.
