Super Tuesday Weather Forecast and Turn-out
Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 12:38 PM by npincus
It looks like Cali will have lovely weather tomorrow, the NE not-so-lovely.... in fact, it may rain in NY, NJ and MA which may affect older voter turnout. Bad weather not as big a factor for the young-uns, I believe.

Democrats in 22 states and Republicans in 23 will head to the voting centers and caucuses tomorrow on Super Tuesday. The weather for what is expected to be the most important day for the remaining presidential candidates will be unusually warm yet unsettled over the Southeast, while a storm system will bring unsettled conditions from the lower Mississippi Valley to the lower Great Lakes. The Southwest will be dry and mild.

A 2005 study shows more-than-average rain or snow can affect voter turnout negatively. So know the weather where you vote before you go.

2. weather is a huge factor in primaries
Absentee ballots are typically more conservative as a group than those who vote on election day. Anything that holds down turnout therefore enhances the natural edge the more conservative candidate may have. Bad weather favors Hillary in most venues.
