Clinton wants to debate obama once a week.....
I bet anyone a coke obama will have some excuse not to do this!

Penn: More debates! (One on Fox!)

In a conference call with reporters, Clinton strategist Mark Penn announced that Clinton would like to face off against Obama in one debate every week between now and March 4.

"The campaign believes that it’s critically important that we continue the debate," he said, citing the questions of "who offers universal healthcare and who's best prepared to fix the economy."

Debates have, generally, been stronger turf for Clinton, but it's also a mark of the shifting dynamic: You don't usually see the frontrunner demanding debates.

Penn said Clinton would like to see debates in Ohio, Texas, and Washington, and had already accepted three: One on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopolous, one CNN debate in Ohio February 27, and an MSNBC debate the next day hosted by Chris Matthews.

Wolfson also said Clinton has accepted a debate on Fox News, something Democrats shunned last year. That debate is scheduled for February 11, in Washington D.C., and would also air on the local Fox affiliate.

He defended the decision to accept a first Fox debate in response to a question from the blogger Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake, noting that both Obama and Clinton have given Fox interviews this cycle, and that this would reach a lot of voters in D.C. and Virginia.

"Given that Senator Obama had been on the network, we’ve been on the network, and that the offer is a good one for this debate in terms of this upcoming primary, it made sense to accept it," he said.

51. They are running out of $$$$$$$$$ they need debates to stay competitive!! !! !!
The fox news debate is only part of the challenge. Hillary's camp knows they will be way behind in the money race after super tuesday... this is why they want to have a debate every week... bc the debate is the only way she can score points and get free press on good performances...

By saying they will debate on FOX they are using the FOX News Echo chamber machine to pressure OBAMA into more debates... in order to get free press bc they are running out of money.

Predition: Camp Hillary will be complaining that there aren't enough debates... and why is Obama afraid to debate... he won't be able to do that against John McCain.

Obama's response should be the person who is behind always wants more debates, there were only 3 presidential debates in 2k4, and we have already had 17(ish) debates.

If I am obama and I have the Momentum ... I wouldn't do many more debates... at most a couple...

Open with a debate, and then end with a speech. Clinton can have the last word in the debate, and Obama can give his speech last.

Note: If you want to know which candidate is behind and scared, see which candidate is calling for more debates. Front-runners don't ask for more debates. This tells the world that the Hillary camp's internal for tonight are devastating.

Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 02:59 PM by smalll
I kind of feel like this might be the very sign that Obama just transmogrified into the frontrunner, and Hillary now takes her first step on her path to the wastelands of the undead, where ghosts of men like Kucinich, Edwards, and even Rudith 9iu11iani roam.

Of course, it may not be, and real Democrats will come out in numbers enough to remind the rich and the beautiful ( - the hip wealthy and the young healthy - the people who don't need a President - ) that it doesn't always go their way. Enough to strike one of those rare blows against the unholy alliance of the plastic fantasticks of Madison Avenue and the almighty Yoof. That it's not today about selling the latest techno gadget or luxury jeans or stuffed-crust pizza, it's about picking a President, and that for one day, one day only, the demographic desirability scores invert, and the World Turns Upside Down.

The suspense!

She must feel she is behind, one of the basic rules of elections, don't debate if you are in the lead. How many debates have we already had? She needs the free air time, went through the money and lost her lead and wants to kick off on Fox where ridiculous questions will be asked of both sides? Shouldn't she have had the common courtesy of working with Obama first before going on Fox?

p.s. Hillary supporters pointing out spelling errors doesn't do much for changing opinions.

61. The fact that the primary is going to continue after today is bad news for Hillary...
...because her money is drying up.

Obama raised $32 million in January, Hillary raised $13.5 million.

She simply cannot keep up with Obama after today.... he can travel more places, put up more ads, hire more staff....

Her only hope is to get the 90 minutes of free advertising that a debate provides, and hope that Obama slips up in the debates.

It's a Hail Mary pass. Sometimes Hail Mary passes are completed... but make no mistake, the Clintons wouldn't be calling for more debates if they were getting a knockout punch tonight.

...and a week ago today, they all thought there would be a knockout punch tonight.

and both HRC people and Obama people, as well as MSM and the talking heads knew a week ago this race would continue and that it was going to be a delegate split.

HRC money is not going to dry up.

We need debates if the race is going to continue.

It just seems like this is all becoming more strategy and less substance.

Today has just begun and you're trying to paint it as a bad day.

the race is going to continue but people are trying to say let it continue without substance. We should really watch out for the mistakes of 2004.

Though I respect your opinion I must disagree. It seems like we've gone from "don't count your eggs before they hatch" to "Don't count your eggs"
