Daily Telegraph says Kerry asked for 12 month draft deferment
Anyone know anything about this? Is it verified? Is it BS? Is it new? Does it matter???

"He wrote to his local recruitment board seeking permission to spend a further 12 months studying in Paris, after completing his degree course at Yale University in the mid-1960s."

3. Yes, I know
But it just got posted on another BB. Is it a new attack, or has it been debunked already? That's my question.

4. No, Telegraph isn't Murdoch - it may be worse
Its owned by the soon-to-be-prison-inmate Conrad Black.

13. I don't know what ketupa.net is
but its wrong.

Hollinger International, Lord Black's company, is the sole owner of the Telegraph. From the Telegraph's website:

Telegraph Group Limited is a newspaper publisher which publishes The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Spectator and The Weekly Telegraph.

Telegraph Group Limited is owned by Hollinger International Inc, an international newspaper publishing company with approximately 200 newspaper properties in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Israel.

17. You're right--mixed it up with the Australian Telegraph.
Sorry about the mixup.

The site is a good way to look at a media group's holdings. Here's what they have for Hollinger.

15. well it might be owned by pornographer & immigrant hater
Richard Desmond (Express/Daily Star/Asian Babes) in the near future -- which could happily take out what little credibility the Torygraph has left!

19. The Telegraph may lie to the right of Genghis Khan
but it still seems pretty accurate, as far as the facts go, for a British paper. Biased? All to hell and gone. But it isn't filled with the sort of embarassing errors The Times and The Independent have.

Then they have no respect whatsoever for the intelligence of the American people.

11. Nor should they have respect for the intelligence
of the American public. Forty-three percent of them think that * should be re-elected.

7. Even if it's true...
He wrote to his local recruitment board seeking permission to spend a further 12 months studying in Paris, after completing his degree course at Yale University in the mid-1960s.

The revelation appears to undercut Sen Kerry's carefully-cultivated image as a man who willingly served his country in a dangerous war - in supposed contrast to President Bush, who served in the Texas National Guard and thus avoided being sent to Vietnam.

One year deferment or not, Kerry did willingly serve his country in a dangerous war. What's the deal. The comparison isn't "supposed."

Even if it's true, compare to the deferment history of the Bush gang.

They're grasping at straws.

14. If true, it's meaningless
We were not under attack or in a state of emergency.People went, if they were lucky they came home when their time was up and other people went. Getting an education was allowed. He went of his own accord when he did go.

20. He tried to duck his service by enlisting immediately?
How does that make sense? Also he asked for a student deferment after a course or after graduation? It says course. This story sounds bogus.

Oh OK. That's an issue....not.

That "story" has about as many legs as a rotten egg.
