Hillary is the clear front-runner.
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 02:53 PM by jefferson_dem
Given that the well-oiled Clinton political machine is in place and all the establishment types are all suited up and in Hillary's corner, coupled with the Clinton's vast personal fortune and their brilliant fundraising abilities, make no mistake about it...

Hillary is the clear front-runner.

Obama is a fighter. I just hope he can keep pace.

If Obama can be even in pledged delegate count by this time next week, i'll be absolutely thrilled.

8. I don't know about that - with Clinton self-funding and her HUGE
on-line contribution surge I think they're either neck & neck or she may be ahead.

Remember, Obama is campaigning in all Feb. 9, Feb. 12 & Feb. 19 states whereas Clinton is not. He's spending more than she is.

With 75,000 donors she may now be the fundraising frontrunner as well.

16. Now that would be a dream come true.
If Obama carries those six, he will have far exceeded our greatest expectations...

I am a proud, loyal supporter of Obama but this is the friggin' Clinton Machine! Nobody should expect them to lose. Really. They are "all that" and then some.

...

:)

14. Yep, Obama will be lucky to be competitive through the end of February
Clinton has a solid hold on Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas (where she has more establishment support)

11. I agree with most of what you wrote, but odds are strong
that he'll be ahead of her in the pledged delegate count next week. Let's not be overly modest here.

12. Expectations game?
Obama won the January delegate race 63-48.
As of right now, Obama leads the Super Tuesday contests 820-816. Link
Of the 47 unallocated delegates, only 1 comes from a state Clinton won.
The rest of February looks good for Obama, possibly a sweep.
He is leading in fund-raising.

All that being said, he needs to build more of a lead by March 4. It is quite conceivable that Clinton may win 70-80 more delegates on that day, so Obama needs to build on his current 21 delegate lead to stay ahead. If Obama can pull to a draw March 4, he will win the nomination, a big victory for Clinton on that day could turn it around for her. Anything in between and it is anyone's ballgame.

13. Yep, he's now up against the Clinton machine in both campaigning and fundraising
plus her finacially able to self-fund compared to Obama - who can't just write himself a $5 millon check when he needs to 'jumpstart' his fundraising - she will probably outraise him in February.

20. But he can't write himself checks to make up the difference the way Hillary can
Even if they are tied (which I doubt seeing what she has done in the last three days) she can just write another $5 million check and bury Obama.

Plus he is campaigning in all primary/caucus states and Clinton is not (so she is saving money where Obama is spending it).

19. I believe Obama will win but I am surprised how Hillary is holding
up with the onslaught of everybody and their uncle who is famous in politics and entertainment coming out for and endorsing Obama. Even his dissing of the 60's mentality and boomers didn't keep the Grateful Dead from playing a show in his honor.

I seriously don't believe she is the frontrunner anymore and if she still is I suspect it won't be for much longer.
