WA State: Democrat's online "caucus finder" overwhelmed!
(Woo Hoo! I'd read an earlier poll which showed a dismal number of people planned on caucusing as opposed to voting in the primary. I hope this means that poll, like so many others lately SUCKS!)

Seattle Times Olympia Bureau

Having trouble finding your caucus?

People are apparently scrambling this morning to find where to go to attend their precinct caucus, which begin at 1 p.m.

State Democratic Chairman Dwight Pelz urged people to call the party headquarters at 206-583-0664 for last-minute assistance. He said he has a dozen people there fielding calls.

The state Republican Party is also taking calls from people needing help finding their caucus. That number is 206-575-2900.

The state Democratic party's online "caucus finder" tool was overwhelmed this morning. "Due to extreme traffic volume, our caucus lookup tool may operate slowly, please try back at a later time if you are having difficulty."

The Web site also provided a "caucus hotline" phone number. But callers this morning got either a "mailbox full" message or a message saying to leave your name and address information so they could help the right precinct.

"We are able to return most phone calls within 24 hours," the message said

1. Is there no way to significantly ramp up capacity for a few days?
I don't understand why so many sites can't foresee these things.

2. I think a lot of states have been taken by surprise. Even though they probably
ramp up, it's obviously not enough!
