OK, let's say Gravel gets the nomination and then loses to McCain in a landslide
What kind of recriminations will there be in the party? Who gets the blame and what happens in...sorry, couldn't keep a straight face.

2. Here's my what if.
What if Clinton OR Obama wins the nomination, beats McCain in a landslide, and then not a whole lot changes in the next four years. Call me a pessimist, but I think people's expectations are much, much too high.

I have been around too long to get my hopes up.
As an aside, I have met Gravel and I liked him. He certainly would shake things up if he won the nomination! :)

4. A "grumpy old men" face-off!
That would actually be a pretty interesting election, although I do think McCain would end up prevailing. I'd campaign enthusiastically for Gravel, though. The "flat tax" support bothers me, but I enjoyed his presence in the debates, even when he was mostly complaining about being shut out. He's also better on most issues than most of the Democratic candidates were/are. And he's far more genuine than John "I love giving hugs to the man whose campaign launched a character assassination on me in SC" McCain, although the electorate doesn't seem to have much use for that particular attribute.
