The most corrupt election in history
I thought this would be the weirdest election ever, but just realized its situation normal being played for highest stakes. This is, and will surely be referred to in past tense discussions as,
the most corrupt election in our history, and its all taking place within the Democratic party primaries. Kind of makes you proud, dont it?

7. WHY do you say THAT? I haven't seen coruption, and truely haven't
seen any real nastiness on the Dem side. I HAVE seen nastiness on the Pub side, but that's the way they operate. The only reason we haven't seen a lot of Pub infighting in recent elections is because they've always had a "favorite son" candidate and this time they don't!

10. Agreed. What corruption?
It seems like the first election ever where grassroots fundraising and organizing have occurred nationally.

15. wow
those grassroots have put in the largest bankroll ever, thats some real fertile turf.
Exactly no correlation between money and corruption I guess.

You extend no credit to Dean's baseball bat success last time?

38. Who says I am extending no credit to Dean?
Governor Dean's campaign most certainly was the first campaign to harness the fundraising power of the internet, among other things. And I think history will always reflect that. Grassroots voices have been made all the stronger because of their new (meaningful financial) place at the table. Corruption IMHO most frequently occurs when money that comes from concentrated sources influences outcomes and policies. Generally. this money is actually paid to public servants -- therein lies the corruption.

13. After the last two General Elections...
...it's a testament to Democratic optimism that liberals and progressives even bother to vote anymore.

As long as Republican-owned corporations control the counting of votes, there will be a Republican-owned White House.

19. from optimism to insanity
They removed the liberal and progressive candidates before the primaries were had.
Now the faithful argue over who of the two annointed was annointed properly.
I guess its time to start seeing the humor in it, somehow.

16. Most corrupt evar?
So, 2000 and 2004 were what - just some kids stealing candy from the drug store?

If you're implying that our legitimate grassroots movements are as corrupt as republican astro turf groups like the swifties, you are on the wrong board.

I have to ask, what "legitimate grassroots movements" are you referencing?
Obviously the mass anti-war and health care concerns have been obviated already, so what
grassroot movements are currently legitimate? Insurance and war profiteers for
fill-in-the-blank, every vote a winner?

Like those ballot boxes in New Mexico that ended up in the home of a Clinton supporter. Or those Nevada caucuses featuring Bill Clinton and Terry McAuliffe as delegated stalking horses.
