Obama people - I have an honest question about his fundraising.
I get email from his campaign, and they always say that if I donate, my donations will be matched.
I noticed he has been doing that for awhile.

My question is, WHO is matching the funds?

1. Maybe me

If I had the money to sign up to match up to a certain amount. Which I don't. But you are matching people all over the country who have signed up to do that.

On edit:

Except obviously you're not because you're not interested in giving to the Obama campaign, just trying to stir the pot.

21. When I donated to Edwards
they had the same message about matching funds. I assumed it had something to do with campaign financing laws and the way he was receiving funding. I really would like to know the answer to the question.

31. I call shenanigans
If they hung up on you (and I seriously doubt it) they probably did it because you were abusive.

The Obama people have been nothing but patient and gracious when I speak to them. I have complaints and they hear me out and try to answer my queries as helpfully as possible.

17. this is what I got today
We just learned that we won all three contests today -- in Louisiana, Nebraska, and Washington State.
We've now won 18 out of 28 states, with New Mexico still in the balance.
What's more, we also estimate that we at least doubled our delegate lead today.
Our momentum is strong, but another round of tough contests is about to begin.
Tomorrow, Democrats will caucus in Maine. And on Tuesday, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia will have their turn.
To win, we need to bring as many people into the process as possible. We're pushing towards 500,000 donors this year by March 4th, when Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont vote.
Now is the time to make your first online donation -- if you do, it will be matched by another supporter, doubling your impact:
https://donate.barackobama.com/match
This race is still extremely close, and we need your support to remain competitive.
Thank you for making this possible.
Barack

34. I'm not buying it
First off, how did you get on the mailing list of a candidate that you do not support? I have yet to get any email from Ms. Clinton's campaign.

Also, I am on the Obama mailing list and I got no such email today. What makes you so special? Plus, from all the emails I've received, not once has the text been signed simply "Barack".

39. Because - unlike you - I acknowledge that we have 2 candidates, and I acknowledge
that in November I will be voting for one of them.

So I am on both email lists. What a concept!

I don't know what to tell you about why you didn't get his email.
Maybe he likes me better than you?

22. No problem. The first time I donated, I didn't even know there was a "donation matching"
thing going on but after I donated, a photo and name of young woman in Washington State popped up and said that she had matched my donation. It asked if I wanted my e-mail or name provided to her or would I rather it not be given to her. That was all.

you will get the name of the person you are matching and some contact information. By the way---allot of fund raising is done this way. Nothing under handed about it at all. So to answer---I guess I'm someone who might match your donation.

Please don't post hateful crap about people just because they don't support our candidate. She asked an honest question, which is her right.
Pirhana, I was asked to match new donations as someone who had previously donated. I haven't done it yet, but I will.

42. I'm so glad to hear things are going well
for you and your family. I'm great, thanks. Busy at work, but that's a good thing. I wouldn't let a little political rivalry get in the way, Pirhana. Friends are friends. That's important.

Just between us, Hillary looked fab in yellow today, don't you think? She wore a different yellow jacket at TBA last year, and looks great in both.
Don't tell the campaign, though. We Obama folks don't want her looking TOO good. If she does get the nom, I'm writing the campaign to tell them more bright colors and ditch the brown suit.

Take care.

If you send a donation, they send an email to somebody who has pledged to match a donation, and they would then match it.
