CNN Delegate Count: Hillary 1,139 and Barack 1,106
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 05:33 PM by Carrieyazel
Latest delegate count at cnn.com. Hillary is +33.

Somewhat different than the other sources, although close to AP's numbers.

8. The CNN number is the largest gap for Clinton that I have seen
consistently. And that does indeed include SD's, which are not set in stone, and which she leads Obama by over 100.

14. not really
totals differ depending on what they include

I, for example, weigh 20 pounds less than I did a year ago because I stopped counting my ass

10. No AP is actually better for Hillary.
Those include "super-delegates"

FOX has it + 25 for Clinton.

CNN has it + 33 for Clinton.

AP has it + 38 for Clinton.

Remember though that it will almost certainly change by Tuesday and Obama will probably be leading even with the super-delegates factored in.

13. i wouldn't be all that proud of leading in the anti-democratic "superdelegate" totals
the party is free to do whatever it likes, of course. it's a private entity. but it'll piss more than a few people off if the superdelegates reverse the decision of the voters, even if it's a close decision. the superdelegates were a bad idea from the first.

15. Superdelegates
There's a very good article in the New York Times about superdelegates and why they were created. The idea was to give the candidate with the lead in the popular vote a more comfortable lead in terms of delegates, in the event of a very close vote. In other words, they are not supposed to be pledging themselves to candidates in advance; they are supposed to throw their weight behind the one with the most popular votes, at the convention. So the intent was to make the process MORE democratic, not less. This business of candidates fishing for superdelegate support in advance of the convention goes against the spirit of the thing entirely. Of course, they remain free to change their minds, and it is likely they will if there is a candidate with a clear lead at the convention. But they should not be using their position to try to influence the popular vote in advance.

21. They were created because the Dem Party doesn't trust us to pick our own candidate.
That is the long and short of it.
