A Prediction or Bookmark this: John Edwards will endorse
Hillary Clinton tonight in Virginia. My reasons for believing this are a combination of remarks made by his aides and well, just call it a gut sense of things.

So if I'm wrong, feel free to mock my lousy call.

4. Hard to tell, really.

I don't know who he'll endorse. I'm leaning towards thinking it'll be Clinton. I think he has much more to lose by endorsing her, but I'm sure he'll have his reasons no matter what. I find it interesting that he's meeting both of them....is it a case of seeing who offers the best incentives, or is it more innocent? Is he simply telling one of them that he's endorsing the other, or is it more dubious?

As to why I feel he would have more to lose by endorsing Clinton - It would position him as very much a status quo, aspiring establishment man whose top tier political career would essentially be over if Obama were to then win the nomination. That is how he would consequently be perceived, whether true or not - as a frayed relic, the tired, dated politician who's always on a losing Presidential ticket.

His message throughout the early primary's was one of change - He could fit into an Obama administration with ease, and could still maintain such a position if Obama were to lose either nomination or election....he could still appear relevant and without too much baggage under such circumstances.

7. The status quo argument boggles my mind when so many status quo people are endorsing Obama.
Think Kennedy and Kerry.

I personally think the status quo argument falls flat with Clinton. I prefer a Senator who actually votes as opposed to one who is more of a show horse.

26. Kennedy and Kerry are not figures of the status quo.
They are very much against the status quo.

Edwards is no more a populist than the Clintons.

17. You are usually very reliable
and fairly unbiased, so I wouldn't be surprised. I would think, personally, that if he endorsed her it would be before the Ohio/Texas contests because nothing Edwards does could deliver Virginia.

28. Both Obama and Hillary's
platform is weak compared to that of Edwards. So I expect him to endorse which ever candidate moves the most to the left and promises him an influential position. He seeks to push his platform, so why shouldn't he endorse the candidate who presents him with a path to do so?

I hope that who ever he chooses, he provides specific details about the promises made so that Edwards supporters can get on board even if his choice is not who the supporter is currently supporting.

27. No Chance. He would Endorse Wednesday, leaked Tuesday night
It would be crazy to endorse on the eve of big defeats. The endorsement would be most useful to reset the news cycle as quickly as possible, with buzz starting during election returns, and gobbling up post-Tuesday coverage
