A while back I stopped using "ObamaNation" and today I'm removing the Kool Aid GoBama Guy.

I had seen Obama supporters using ObamaNation to describe themselves so I didn't think it was *too* bad to use, considering "Hilltard" and "Hillaroid"... until I looked around and saw just how the RWers were using "ObamaNation". Ick. Sorry about that.
The cartoony Kool Aid guy was amusing in a neener-neener way (to me) but evidently extremely offensive to many DUers. So he gets the boot this morning.

The only problem I see is that there isn't a modified version for Hillary.

If you do/say something that offends someone, I believe in giving them the benefit of the doubt. But I knew some would take offense and went ahead anyway. My bad.

Both candidates are serious contenders with a lot of energized supporters backing them. And I promise not to use the term "Hillbot" any more.

Seriously - where can I get car window clings. I don't want a permanent bumper sticker :D

and anyone who thinks any particular PRO-Obama posters are offensive (including me) can PM me with the specific info, and though I have no official standing whatsoever at DU, I certainly will check out the alleged offense.

Please remember that only those things that are not GRAY AREA, those things you might consider completely abusive, should be a focal point. Though I have no authority, the fact that I am a frequent pro-Obama poster should help.

(One might also want to contact some of the better-known and secularly highly respected Obama supporters on this point also, as their friendly suggestions might be more welcome and more effective).

I do NOT mean for this to become a process of vigilanteism -- and hope that it comports with the spirit as well as the letter of DU's rules and especially untrammeled with freedom of speech.

I'm an Obama supporter, and I think it's adorable.

I thought Kool-Aid guy was Obama supporters saying "neener neener" to everyone (had to
steal your "neener neener" description...it made me laugh and was spot on).

I'm a 43 year-old stay-at-home mom, so I'm too old and jaded to drink any Kool-Aid, and
I think it's hilarious that people "stereotype" Obama supporters this way. Just hilarious!

Most of the Obama supporter I know are middle-aged and even senior citizens. When I picture
them ecsconsed in the "Kool-Aid" stereotype or the "latte liberal" niche--I just crack up.

I think they'd crack up too. These people are average citizens--raising kids, going to work,
paying bills and going to PTA meetings.

I think these erroneous constructs stick because the media likes them. It's a nice soundbyte.

I do drink Starbuck's coffee though...daily. Neener neener... (love that) :hi:

It's too bad the right wing "Billary" is used here.

I did not like the GOBAMA Kool-Aid graphic. "Drinking the Kool-Aid" has a very negative connotation. Glad to see it gone.

the SF Bay Area that tragedy really affected members of my family who had friends who died down there. The etymology of the term "Kool Aid drinker" comes from a tragedy that cost 900 people their lives. Seeing it used to describe the supporters of any candidate is pretty tacky.
