oxy-rush, ANN-thrax et al and their sudden support of Hillary
NO - THIS IS NOT A PRIMARY THREAD...

recently a few of the more "colorful" reich-wingers banded together and announced their support for a Hillary Clinton presidency

The story they tell is they cannot support McCain, and with Mitt the Twit out of the race - they are hoping a Clinton presidency will "rally" the conservatives.

What they are really saying is if McCain wins, they can't bash him because technically he's one of their own, but with a Clinton presidency the gloves are off

in a nutshell, they are childishly cutting off their noses to spite their face and hope to increase their ratings. It would be like me wanting another 4 years of a bush-clone just so I would have material for my toons.

It has nothing to do with their political convictions nor concern for the country, it has to do with ratings and their bankbook

Take oxy-rush for an example, he wouldn't be where he is today if it weren't for a Bill Clinton. Without Clinton, oxy-rush would have nothing to say.

yes, they also bash liberals, women, and any other group that differs from them - but the real money maker for them is to have a Clinton-bashing show or column.

1. Rush's theory is that he wants Clinton to win the primary
Because the party elite is clearly planning on running against her and counting on hatred of Clinton to overcome the bases disdain for McCain. If Obama is the candidate, than there won't be enough hatred to get the party behind McCain.

But it's sort of a commentary on his opinion of his party elites plans; they want to run against Clinton.

3. not looking like a Clinton nomination is to be
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A SHOW OF SUPPORT FOR ANYONE - I HAVEN'T MADE UP MY MIND.

She's got a new campaign manager, at this stage of the primary season, not a good sign.

This has been one of my concerns since Hillary was first elected to the Senate. I felt, is she's going to make a run at the white house she should wait until 2012 or even 2016 - give time for the Clinton bashers to fade, and memories drop into black holes. 2008 is too soon.

the very thought of going through 4 or even 8 years of a daily republic attack machine spittle, makes my stomach turn.

and that's the one fear/concern I keep hearing over and over again when I ask people what they think of Hillary. Some will still vote for her, other's are like me - torn, undecided and we carry a clothespin in our pockets

2. Its all about ratings and book sales for them.
If McCain should win they would sink further into obscurity. Their "industry" was built around the Clinton's and they need them to stay relevant.

4. They WANT the Dems to win this time.

Not only do they not have their choice of a "true conservative" in the running but they know whoever wins the Presidency will catch the blame for all the damage BushCo has done for the previous eight years. The country is FUBAR more than most people realize because BushCo has swept so much under the carpet and kept so much from public view that they don't seem as crooked and evil as they really are. So the hatemongers would rather it be a Dem President so that they can point fingers and rant and rave to their heart's content after the election.

And it's a moot issue anyway because their base isn't big enough anyway--we beat them on turnout in '06, remember?

6. Sure they WANT to see President Hillary
They made a shitload of money during the Clinton years. They can envision it all coming back around and they're drooling at the prospect. They know the country is going down the crapper as a result of the idiotic bush policies of the past 8 years and they realize that it is really going to hit the fan during the next presidents watch.

They'd rather not have it be a repub, even McCain, and they are afraid that attacks on Obama would be taken as racist. But Hillary Clinton, she's the woman the wingnut talk radio audiences love to hate. It has jack shit to do with policy. It's all about money.
