1. Since it's Gallup, that means he's really up 6-10 points.

4. Here is the gallup daily tracking poll

The reason for the difference is that it shows a three day average.

14. Obama did lead once in a June 2007 Gallup
31-30 so it's not quite the first time but this time it's a meaningful lead.

10. That's a pretty big swing.
Boy, is the electorate fickle. I think the respondents just base their answer on whoever 'seems' to be ahead at any given time.

they can be bought and borrowed. We have seen it over and over,
polls are used for many reasons these days, so Gallup, Zogby et al
can kiss my Donkey

23. The poll had a margin of error of 5%. That is a huge margin, which to me, makes this poll
incredibly dubious. Not hear to bust anyones bubble, but I can't understand why they didn't just sample more people to have a more reliable poll.

24. Obama supporters are going to use this poll
because last week when Clinton rebuilt a 12 point lead, the Clinton supporters were using it to say Obama is collapsing. The graphs use a 3-day average, so that probably helps the margin of error a little.

when clinton was up 7 points or whatever, I posted that that meant they could be tied. I still feel that way.

34. No doubt they could be tied.
But the poster's point is valid. People were using this poll to suggest Obama was done, showing Clinton had a surge post-Super Tuesday.

I have no doubt the perception AT FIRST was that Clinton won Super Tuesday, but when people actually began to think about the results and had time to digest them, clearly the momentum returned to Obama.

26. what do you think these national polls mean this far into the race?
some buyers remorse? possibly. that happens.

I can't find anything much else in the nationals to fathom, except for the fact that these candidates are closely matched and evenly regarded among Democrats.

31. I think respondents just go with the lastest sense of who's 'ahead'
in some amorphous sense, and right now that would be Obama. But I don't think it means much beyond that.

36. We don't have national elections in America...
we have individual state elections. The only polls that matter are the ones from the upcoming states that will vote...Maryland, Virginia, D.C., Wisconsin, Hawaii, etc...
